Trump done a good thing

Now that that's settled, . . . what should be cut ?

I'm not sure its settled. The precise policy is yet to be defined so we can withhold judgement until it is. But so far Republicans have made the broad agenda of their first 100 days clear. And none of these line items are budget friendly:
- Removing the sequester for military spending..and increasing military investments
- Increasing border infrastructure and personnel
- Lowering tax rates for corporations and individuals
- repealing Obamacare
- infrastructure investment - primarily energy

You can opine thoughtfully about some or all of these things as being good policy. I agree with some. But you cant say they are deficit neutral. They aren't. Perhaps they can be reconciled. Waste, fraud, and abuse can be cut, right? Or maybe we can get rid of PBS. Or maybe Mexico can pay for it all.
We are going to be WINNING.
What else matters?
Perhaps Jatki is unaware that fiscal year 2009 began in October, before Obama was elected. Not sure how he gets the blame for it. Much of the deficit came from tax revenues being much lower than expected as a result of the great recession he inherited.
This town gives Trump a second look after Carrier deal

"Trump’s pledge was dismissed by skeptics like Chuck Jones, the president of the local steelworkers union at the plant. Jones admitted he criticized Trump during the campaign for making improbable assurances — and was shocked when he got it done.

“He got involved, and the man did what he promised he would do.”"

"Experts predicted the economic impact of Carrier leaving the west side of Indianapolis would have cost the state nearly $100 million a year in ancillary commerce."

It is a revenue problem not a spending problem. A huge tax cut (decreasing revenue further) while doubling defense spending isn’t the answer.

Amazing, you don't see a 4+ trillion dollar budget as NOT a spending problem? Well, you are a self admitted socialist (which isn't a necessarily bad thing), I just wholeheartedly disagree and think spendong should equal revs with the less the better.

- Removing the sequester for military spending..and increasing military investments...Except for the soldiers pay increase, I'm not happy with increasing Boeing, LM etc. bottom lines.

- Increasing border infrastructure and personnel...Absolutely needs to be done and not because I'm racist or bigoted or afraid (contrary to the lefts persistent accusations), it's because it needs addressed and this country can't afford to take care of all these people when we have our own kids, veterans and other citizens who should be taken care of first.

- Lowering tax rates for corporations and individuals...we'll see how it works out, if GDP bumps up a few points and the Fed sees a large increase in revs then it's worth it, good for all.

- repealing Obamacare...It's painfully obvious it needs changhed, and in a big way. I'm all for everyone to have have healthcare and hopefully they come up with a better approach.

- infrastructure investment - primarily energy... All for it, IF all the money earmarked actually goes into the projects.

I'd start with eliminating Medicare. That would have a secondary benefit of Seniors not living so long and reducing social security payouts.
Next, I would bring back the Green Card Warrior program.
Then I would adopt a new calender. Each month would have thirty days. By eliminating five days a year, savings would be substantial. People would benefit by working five less days, and the gubmint would save by paying its employees five fewer days. Win-Win.
