Trump is moving into the White House by himself.

It's a common occurrence for Presidents to go home every weekend? Really? Can you name one who did? Congress members represent a particular group of people so it makes sense that they go back to them. Many Members try to go go home each weekend, when there isn't a scheduled session. I don't think any President has gone home for the weekend on a regular basis.

More made up BS. Shocking! You're not nearly as smart as you think you are. Yea, I can name more than one.

"..During his two terms as president, George W. Bush, spent a whopping 500 days at his ranch, which he stills owns, near the town of Crawford in central Texas. It wasn’t all play, however, as Prairie Chapel Ranch played host to the likes of Russian President Vladimir Putin and former British prime minister Tony Blair, among other world leaders, when Mr. Bush was in office.."

"..The late Ronald Reagan and his wife, Nancy, used their ranch, Rancho del Cielo, in Santa Barbara, California, which they bought back in the 1970s, as their retreat from the White House during his two terms. Dubbed the “Western White House,” the ranch, set on 688 acres, was used to host Mikhail Gorbachev and Queen Elizabeth II when Mr. Reagan was in office during the 1980s.."

"..A modest ranch near Middleburg, Virginia, which John F. Kennedy and his wife, Jacqueline, built in the early 1960s is decidedly less known than the glitzy Kennedy compound in Hyannis Port. Ms. Kennedy designed it herself as a weekend retreat away from the White House, but sadly the family only spent three weekends there before JFK was assassinated in 1963; the property was sold a few months later.."

Bush spent an average of 63 days a year on his ranch. Trump wants to spend 160 nights a year in NYC. Great comparison.
Reagan spent less than 50 nights a year at his retreat. Presidents need and deserve retreats and vacations. Spending 160 nights in NY is insane. If Hillary did it, you'd be outraged.
Camp David is designed for Presidential retreats. Trump Tower isn't.
Then we have the matter of disrupting airspace and road traffic on Friday night's and Monday mornings in the busiest city in the country, and shutting down the intersection of the most expensive retail space in NY.

I never said I was happy with it, just pointing out how wrong MAL's speculation was as well as how wrong you were when yoyu spouted off about "no president has ever gone home on the weekends".

BTW I wouldn't be outraged as you so confidently say, I wouldn't be happy but I know it's a common thing.

More speculation from MAL who knows no more than me or anyone else what exactly their plans. The only thing for sure is she's staying 'til the end of the school year. The donald said she and Barron would be joining them 'soon', after the school year. It was also reported he's asked how much time does he have to spend at the WH. Looks like he'll be in the WH during the week then go home on the weekends, or NJ, or Fla where he'll be with his family, just as many congressman do.I remember Pelosi flew home to SF every weekend on a govt. jet. It's a common occurance, SHEESH.

So, Trump is going to be the most vacationed President ever just counting all those weekends off? Do terrorists take every weekend off too?

I suggest you go through this forum and reexamine all posts here were conservative posters screamed like 12-year-old school girls whenever Obama took a day off to play golf.

It is also bizarre to simply write this off as Baron wanting to stay behind to finish school. Is the kid such a special snowflake that he doesn’t have to move when daddy gets a new job?

Officials are saying it costs more than one million dollars a day to provide protection to the Trump Tower since the election, and those costs won’t go down if Melania and Barron stay behind. I can recall the numerous whiney bitchy threads here about how much it costs the taxpayers when Obama went on a two-week vacation to Hawaii (his home state). Suddenly these same a-holes are down with Trump spending over a billion taxpayer dollars in a four-year period so Trump can have two White Houses. Boiler also apparently wants the taxpayers to spend millions of dollars retrofitting the Trump Tower with helicopter pads. If Trump didn’t want to live in Washington or want his family to live in Washington, he shouldn’t have run for the position as relocation is mandatory.

Yea MAL, you go back and read through this forum, I never once said a word about his golf OR vacations. Letting kids finish out the school year when the parents move. My neighbors moved down Fredericksburg way and the 17yr old stayed here to finish his senior year (that didn't turn out well, AT ALL. Party city). There's a few other of my sons friedns who stayed, so it's not uncommon.

See my other post about presidents who went home, the sectet service will set it up just like they did for previous presidents. Like I just said, I'm not happy with it, but I'm much, MUCH more concerned with results than bitching about golf or where a pres. spends his time. I would hoe you are too MAL.

BTW Where did boiler say anything about the govt. paying for a helipad? All I got out of his post is that he thinks it's possible to build it but I know you usually read one thing and formulate something else that meets your agenda, pretty forkyish.

BTW Your speculation that they're splitting up may happen. Nobody knows but I saw a snippet of Melania's interview (never saw the whole thing) and it was pretty obvious she didn't care for how engrossed and the depth of how slimy the whole thing got and I'm not sure how well she can handle it. I think it's obvious she wasn't prepared for all that, BUT, I don't know JMHO.

In case you haven't noticed, there is no runway for Air Force One on the grounds of the White House. Marine One is used to shuttle the President to and from Air Force One.

WOW!! and you just called boilerman a moron!? Where in the world did he ever say or imply AF1 landed at the WH?
Reading is so FUNdamental. You might try it some time.

Billy is also telling us that it's too difficult to put a helipad on top of Trump Tower. Please explain why this not possible, Billy.

I'd say the answer is obviously you if you think the article disputes what I said. Marine One is a glorified limo that shuttles the President to and from airports.

All of the Secret Service agents and aides that have to accompany the President everywhere he goes wouldn't fit on Marine One. Most of the staff and security meets the President at the airport. Everytime Trump goes to NY he is going to have to take Air Force One to NY and then he and his entourage are going to have to be taken through busy New York streets to Trump Tower.

Shuttle the SS agents? HUH? Of course it doesn't and you're pretty correct on it's a glorified limo but it goes more places than just Andrews. I can think of camp david for one. I beleive it's used for anything within it's range instead of the rigamaro (SP???) of getting AF1 in the air, that's an expensive ordeal. Living here I've seen AF1 and M1 and there's always air support close by.

I remeber 9/11 when I heard the roar of a jet approaching, scared the crap out of me. It was getting really ,REALLY louder, turned out it was AF1 and two or three F-18's flying right over the treetops, they pretty much buzzed my house. I knew by then they were going to shoot down anything in the air at that point and we're on a direct flight path to DC, like I said, scared the crap out of me.

But like I already said, I'm concerned with RESULTS not particularly where they come from.

EDIT to correct 'name one president'

Just as you usually do nowadays, a non-answer with a snarky insult thrown in. Yea, reading IS fundamental, Both you and MAL should give it a try sometime, don't spout off saying things as fact when bottom line it's only opinion/speculation.
What Trump really wants to do in the White House.

Marine One goes almost everywhere Air Force One goes, transported in the same planes as the Presidential motorcade. There are actually a number of Marine Ones, as they usually fly in formation and very few know which helicopter the President is actually on.
My first day of Air Assualt School, an instructor described a helicopter as 20,000 individual parts, each attempting to work independently. That was reinforced when three of them crashed the first two days.
In Panama, my unit lost ten choppers the first day, none to hostile fire. They are incredibly fragile and the longer they fly, the worse they get.
Years ago, Trumps right hand man and two other big shots died in a helicopter crash between NY and Aantic City. Ford years after that, Trump didn't fly or allow them at the Taj.
