Trump pulls even?

Pretty interesting, can't say I'm shocked but it certainly appears we have the "most evils" that we;ll have the choice to pick from.

Exclusive: Trump surges in support, almost even with Clinton in national U.S. poll

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Donald Trump's support has surged and he is now running nearly even with Democrat Hillary Clinton among likely U.S. voters, a dramatic turnaround since he became the Republican party's presumptive presidential nominee, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll released on Wednesday.

The results could signal a close fight between the two likely White House rivals as Americans make up their minds ahead of the Nov. 8 election to succeed Democratic President Barack Obama. As recently as last week, Clinton led Trump by around 13 points in the poll.

In the most recent survey, 41 percent of likely voters supported Clinton, the Democratic front-runner, and 40 percent backed Trump, with 19 percent not decided on either yet, according to the online poll of 1,289 people conducted from Friday to Tuesday. The poll had a credibility interval of about 3 percentage points.

The results reflect a big increase in support for Trump since he knocked out U.S. Senator Ted Cruz of Texas and Ohio Governor John Kasich last week to become the last Republican in the White House race.

There was no immediate comment from the Clinton or Trump campaigns.

Clinton, who has all but clinched the Democratic nomination over rival Bernie Sanders, has mostly led Trump in the head-to-head poll this year. Trump briefly matched her support a few times in 2016, most recently in mid-March, after U.S. Senator Marco Rubio of Florida, a favorite of the Republican establishment, dropped out.

Presidential elections are not decided by the national popular vote but by the Electoral College, which is based on state-by-state results.

Opinions are likely to change over the next six months as American voters become inundated with hundreds of millions of dollars in campaign advertising, highly publicized debates and a pair of party conventions.

I think there are a certain percentage of people in these polls who plan to vote for Trump but will not come out and say they are going to do so, because they are worried about how they are perceived. In other words, I think the polls are understating the number of people or the percentages who will plan to vote for Trump.

I think you are correct RM, I beleive a lot of those "undecided" are actually Trump voters. Man I sure hope so, anyone but Hillary. ANYONE.
It doesn’t surprise me. Hillary can’t even put Bernie away even after it is clear he stands almost no mathematical chance of winning the nomination. By the time it is all said and done, he will have won roughly the same amount of states she has.

The problem quite frankly is her, and I don’t mean because of some kook wingnut conspiracy talk. Obama’s campaign slogan could be summed up in one word. It was Hope. Unfortunately for Hillary, her campaign can be summed up in one word too and it is Nope. That is her response to a whole range of issues. On Obamacare it is if elected I can’t do anything to fix it, so I am not going to try. it is the best you’re going to get, so quit complaining. On social security she promised to merely not to cut it right away. She hedges more than Trump on what she wants the minimum wage to be.

She is so afraid of offending her donor base, Corporate America, that she won’t take any stand on any issue that has the potential to take one cent out of corporate America’s pocket. I think it would be easy for her to fix her messaging but she doesn’t seem to have the willpower or desire to deliver the tough love to corporate America that this populist driven election is going to require.

When one outlier poll shows one result, and EVERY other national poll shows something very different, just trust in the outlier that gives you the answer you crave.

Just ask President Romney.
Of course, ask the Forky poll and go by that.

No, the aggregate of all polls is usually very accurate. And reading the experts at fivethirtyeight.com is usually helpful.

Just ask President Obama.

When I think about voting for Trump or Clinton, I picture King Théoden putting on his armour at Helm's Deep, saying in a mournful voice, "How has it come to this?"
Dorky only likes polls that agree with his point of view. The others don't count

Just how stupid are you? Do they have to water you twice a day.

I said that I relied on the aggregate of all polls, which has proven to be very accurate. And relying on the aggregate is the OPPOSITE of cherry-picking polls, which you just witlessly accused me of.

So Boilerman, go have someone explain to you what "aggregate" means. Then have them do it again, because I'm sure it will take more than one application. Then we can continue this chit-chat.
