Really? Pollsters polled. People voted. Explain how the Pollsters got it so wrong so close to the vote....and how you think US Pollsters are so right so far away from the vote. You know they use the same techniques....right? Heck they haven't even had a debate yet. That could change everything.
Yeah, I remember how when Trump was leading in the early polls, people claimed that it wouldn't last. They were wrong too.
So far Hillary has invested millions on crucial data mining and microtargeting of demographic groups in swing states. Trump has spent more on baseball caps. Hillary has hundreds of professional boots on the ground. Trump has almost none. To build crowds and harvest volunteers and money in the swing states, Hillary is going to be able to feature rock stars like President Obama, President Clinton, Elizabeth Warren, Bernie Sanders, Al Franken, and Joe Biden. Donald Trump will have his wife, Chris Christie and.....Sarah Palin? Hillary will be able to build crowds with the likes of Katy Perry, Beyonce, and Bruce Springsteen. Trump will have Kenny Rogers and Meatloaf. Thousands of California Hillary supporters are going to drive and fly into Nevada to knock on the door of every Democratic voter in the state multiple times. I was one of them in 2008. And the Trump campaign currently has less money in the bank than the defunct Ben Carson campaign.
And the most powerful get-out-the-vote medium in the world, Facebook, has signaled that it is ready to ratfuck the Trump campaign if they think it's necessary (It probably won't be.) Independents are either morons or liars, so TV commercials directed at them are almost worthless.
I've been saying that Donald Trump was going to be the Republican nominee since forever, but Republican primary voters are very different than voters in the general election. I thought Romney had a chance, I thought McCain had a chance (until he chose Palin), but I don't see a way for Trump to win this.
Having "rockstars" going to bat for you in an election would do very little to influence my vote...
They don't influence anyone else either, and like I've said here a few times, endorsements are pretty much worthless when it comes to getting votes. What I did say was that huge rockstar-driven crowds build enthusiasm and allow campaigns to harvest volunteers, money, and the names and addresses of probable voters. And that's critical in any presidential campaign.
Hillary will have, among others, Presidents Obama and Clinton, Elizabeth Warren, Springsteen, Katy Perry, and Beyonce. Trump will have Chris Christie and Kenny Rogers. Good luck with that.
And now it looks like we can add Bernie to Hillary's list.
So here's my prediction. On the last weekend before the election, Bernie will be gathering stadium sized crowds in Iowa, President Clinton will do the same in North Carolina, Professor Warren will be in New Hampshire, and President Obama in Nevada. And for opening acts they'll have Springsteen, Beyonce, and Katy Perry, among others. And those rallies will produce tens of thousands of volunteers willing to knock on the doors of Hillary supporters, and then harangue their friends via text, phone, and on social media.
Meanwhile, Mr. Trump will have his wife, Chris Christie, Newt Gingrich, and Kenny Rogers. And maybe Meatloaf will make an appearance.
Getting out the vote is critical; it's what won it for Bush in 2004 and Obama in 2008. Trailing in the polls should be the least of Mr. Trump's worries - he needs a ground game to have a chance. He doesn't have one now and it doesn't look like he's building much of one. Sounds like a loser to me.
