Umm, . . . doesn't the claim that because of her heritage she brings less bias to the bench imply that someone else's heritage brings more bias to the bench ? And doesn't such a statement recognize the existence of such bias ?
[DonDiego doesn't know what malibber2 means by "everyday people". (DonDiego did not see this phrase in Ms. Sotomayor's statement) DonDiego pretty much considers everybody "everyday people."]

Host John Dickerson later asked if Trump thought a Muslim judge would also be biased against him due to Trump's proposal to temporarily ban Muslims from entering the United States.
"It's possible, yes. Yeah. That would be possible, absolutely," Trump said.

DonDiego doesn't see a statement supporting the assertion: "he doesn’t think, . . . Muslims are fit to judge him." Just an agreement with the inquisitor that bias is possible.
Oh, and poor simple old DonDiego has not found a quote pertaining to a woman being similarly unfit to judge him.
With specific reference to the judge overseeing the "Trump University" case:
U.S. District Judge Gonzalo Curiel has for years been associated with the La Raza Lawyers Association (LRLA) of San Diego, which supports pro-illegal immigrant organizations. The mission statement of LRLA reads: "Our purpose is to advance the cause of equality, empowerment and justice for Latino attorneys and the Latino community in San Diego County through service and advocacy."
And the first three goals of the group are:
********quote*****
"__Increase the overall number of Latinos in the legal profession.
__Encourage and support Latino and Latina judicial candidates to apply to the bench.
__Advocate for the promotion and retention of Latino and Latina attorneys and judicial officers."
*****endquote*****
n.b. The LRLA does not support “equality, empowerment and justice” for all attorneys in San Diego — but for “Latino attorneys.”
Poor old DonDiego has no objection to this endeavor. But to suggest bias is absent from these goals is willful blindness.
The point is attorneys are capable of bias. And attorneys recognize this; it is why defense lawyers seek “changes of venue” and avoid the courtrooms of “hanging judges; ”it's what "judge shopping" is all about.
The judiciary is independent, but that does not mean that Federal Judges are exempt from the same robust criticism as presidents or members of Congress. Obama himself attacked the Citizens United decision in a State of the Union address, with the justices sitting right in front of him.
". . . does anyone think that if Obama appointed a Muslim to the Supreme Court, the LGBT community would not be demanding of all Democratic Senators that they receive assurances that the Muslim judge’s religious views on homosexuality would never affect his court decisions, before they voted to put him on the bench?"
