The Truth

As most everyone now knows, that liar who resides in the White House has finally admitted he lied. I now wait to see if forkush and chilcoot will do the same. I am not holding my breath.
The President did no such thing.

He said he was sorry that some people are surprised that they're having to change health insurance policies given the inaccurate assurances he'd made that no one would have to. From the New York Times:

In an interview with NBC News, Mr. Obama said that he did not do enough to ensure that the law did not force the termination of insurance policies that people like because they do not meet the law’s new coverage requirements.

“It means a lot to them. And it’s scary to them. And I am sorry that they, you know, are finding themselves in this situation, based on assurances they got from me,” Mr. Obama told Chuck Todd of NBC in an interview in the Diplomatic Room of the White House. “We’ve got to work hard to make sure that we hear them and that we’re going to do everything we can to deal with folks who find themselves in a tough position as a consequence of this.”

(snip)

In the NBC interview, Mr. Obama said he had not purposely misled anyone. He said it was always his intention that no one should lose a plan he wanted to keep. But he emphasized that most people who were forced off a current plan would be able to find new insurance that was cheaper and provided better coverage.

“I think we, in good faith, have been trying to take on a health care system that has been broken for a very long time,” Mr. Obama said. “And what we’ve been trying to do is to change it in the least disruptive way possible.”

He added that “they’re benefiting from more choice and competition.”

“But obviously, we didn’t do a good enough job in terms of how we crafted the law,” he said. “And, you know, that’s something that I regret. That’s something that we’re going to do everything we can to get fixed.”
You really believe that Obama didn't know up front that there would be insurance cancellations. If your that gullible I have some land in Florida to sell you.

That's the number one problem that voters on both sides of the isle succumb to. They want to believe what the politician says even if it doesn't pass the smell test. Obama said it over 20 times that people would be able to keep their insurance. Oh forget it. It's not worth the effort.
Perhaps DrMilled would like me to list all the times that the 43rd President, Dick Cheney......and his dumbass sidekick George Bush lied ?

I would list them all, cept AC might get upset with the amount of bandwidth I would have to use.

Easily 10 pages + of lies from those criminals !

I have the distinct feeling that the political people on here would rather their opposing party be in power so that they can complain and blame all of society's ills on the other guys.

I'm close to joining the Modern Whig party.

The Modern Whig party of the United States of America is the party for the rest of us, the party of patriots, the party of equality, the party of liberty, and the party of moderates.

We, the Modern Whigs, standing on the broad and firm platform of the Constitution, united by all of its inviolable and sacred guarantees and compromises, relying upon the intelligence of the American people, with an abiding confidence in their capacity for self-government and their devotion to the Constitution and to the United States of America, pledge to go forth with integrity, open-mindedness, pragmatism, and transparency as we pursue our civic duty.

Not fair, marcisdave. Not fair at all.

President Cheney's mistakes only ruined the economy, destroyed decades of faith in American leadership and decency abroad, and killed and maimed tens of thousands of US and allied soldiers and hundreds of thousands of Iraqis.

Like, what's the big deal?

The consequence of President Obama's statements is that a very few Americans will have to withstand the security of superior health insurance, some even at a reduced price.

The horror!

Democrats are by far today's moderate party. Today's Democrats advocate:

  • The immigration reform of George W. Bush
  • The national health insurance of Bob Dole and Mitt Romney
  • The campaign finance reform of John McCain.
  • The gun control legislation of Ronald Reagan
  • A renewed Voting Rights Act, which passed the 2006 Senate by a vote of 98-0.
  • Equal rights for gays
  • Sensible regulation of Wall Street

Meanwhile, the Republicans shut down the government, tried to use the threat of default as ransom, talk about "nullifying" federal laws, want to restrict access to birth control pills, and thought that Chuck Hagel was too liberal to be the Secretary of Defense. And the overwhelming choice for governor by Republicans in Virginia was a guy who wanted oral sex to be illegal.

One party is centrist, the other is radical. So don't try and tell me that splitting the difference between the two is "moderate." The "Modern Whig Party" should just call themselves the "Embarrassed Republican Party."
  • Well said forkushV.

If I could just add something, you did forget to mention that the man that Republicans in Viginia greatly preferred this week also wanted to prevent abused women from being able to divorce their abusive husbands if they have minor kids. THAT is not moderate, but it's what Virginia's Republicans apparently want.
