After an infusion of cash; the lines at Chicago have magically disappeared

As an aside, a good friend from my Army days recently retired after thirty years and went to work for Homeland. He was telling me how the new scanners are much more sensitive than the ones they replaced. One of the areas they detect is wetness in the crouch area. Many more people are subjected to pat downs because they used a restroom just before getting on line, and shall we say - didn't shake it well enough. Be safe and use the restrooms past security.

That's interesting.
The example I described when a screener patted hubby's legs clear up into his crotch just happened (May 2nd).
Right before we entered the security lines he felt he had to go, turned around and headed for a bathroom. I'll have to show this to him! Shake, shake, shake!

I will say, though...geez, isn't that a bit TOO sensitive?
That will surely slow things down.
He can't be the only incomplete shaker. LOL.
I've been hoping for a thorough pat down at TSA check points for years. So all I need to do rub some lotion on my groin area to make that happen?

I bet you could even tell them you're identifying as a woman today and demand a female screener for the pat down.

Gawd, I love this country.

The head of the TSA suggests that the airlines stop charging bag fees so everyone would check their bags. What a novel idea - I and the millions of people who have been and are being ripped off are all for it.
Like the airlines would give up on 2 billion dollars of baggage fees. What they will do instead is start charging more for carry-on bags than checked bags.

I told husband maybe he didn't shake it enough, thus getting that groin feel by TSA last time.

Husband said he'd been told "if you shake it too many times you are playing with it", so he probably won't change his routine.

May 16, 2016, I flew out of Seattle to Vegas. It took a FULL hour (I checked my watch) from stepping into the TSA line to walking out the other side. May 19th. I returned home. The time, start to finish, for TSA at McCarren, was 14 minutes. I even ended up bring some money home with me. I recommend Emeril's restaurant in the MGM. I had a plate of frog legs (first time I every had them) during happy hour for $9.00. They even brought a warm wet cloth to wipe our hands at the end of the meal. I know it was supposed to be an appetizer, but it was a full meal for us (we each had an order of them). I love the various happy hours for lower cost eating in Vegas.
It mosly depends on what airline you are flying.
Alaska was terrible. 40 minutes. Yeah, I was in line.
There is an alternative LINE to stand in behind you about 100 yards.

Maybe SWA is just as bad. Never had frog.
I have gotten the random "TSA pre" on my boarding pass but when I got to the check-in was told that line was "down" and I would have to do the regular line...belt, shoes, jacket off, laptop and liquids out, empty all pockets. I would not have been a happy traveler if I had paid for the "TSA pre" and had that happen.
I will avoid getting into any arguments, I mean discussions, here on the expertise, qualifications, experience, training or physical fitness of TSA screeners or the higher ups in TSA or DHS.
