Turkey Coup?

No, not Turkey Coop you ninnies. Apparently certain members of the Turkish military are attempting to take over the NATO Member, US Ally and Prospective EU Member; Turkey. I wonder what faction of Turkish society these insurgents are representing...Pure Disgruntled Military? Secular? Other?

Turkey Attempted Coup
Apparently initiated by unhappy segments of the military.

DonDiego will withhold an opinion until he learns if the Clinton Foundation is profiting and by how much.
Turkish Army claims it has taken control of country.

Turkish President Erdogan not seen in 6 days is safe.

Social Media and Airports Shut Down
In general, the Turkish military tends to be more secular than the government has been trending. If this coup is successful, I'd expect them to be more aggressive towards Isis. The problem is Turkey's intelligence service tens to be pro Islamic, and still has ties to Russia's intelligence.
Wild card is the Kurds, who are our allies against Isis but enemies of Turkey.

Fundamentalist Religious Democracy vs Secular Dictatorship. Those aren't very good choices for a strategic Ally. Do we support the freely elected government, the Military that wishes to return the country to it's secular roots, wait to see who wins on the ground or just stay the hell out of it? You've got to think we should condemn the coup and demand a return to a democratically elected government. Maybe our response to the 2013 Egyptian Coup will be the model. It's kind of similar with a secular military deposing a freely elected religion based government.
Turkey Coup Repelled

That must be one of the shortest coups in history.
Turkey Coup was Poorly Planned
