The Twelve Days of Slothmas

I'm heading to Vegas today for a long relaxing trip. I'll try and update this thread daily with the most boring and slovenly trip report ever. Rather than sordid tales of skank hos and blow you can expect days filled with reading a book while drinking a beer. I don't expect much controversy or many hits.

I just appreciate seeing a thread that relates to Vegas. Thank You! Hope you have a great trip.
Day 1 - An evening with Monique

Got to Vegas about 10pm (1am east cost time) after a full day of work and travel. I picked up a rental car (Advantage, $14 plus fees for $22 total). I like getting a cheap rental for the first 24 hours as it is no more than a cab downtown and gives me a chance to hit outlying places. I stop by Food 4 Less on the way to the hotel to stock the room with snacks and a case of water. Get to MSS and check-in. The bellman has gone home, so they call someone in housekeeping to get a cart to help me unload luggage and groceries.

After check-in, and getting a fridge delivered by the same makeshift bellman, I head to the players desk to pick up my food vouchers. These are good until the end of November, so I don't have long to use them. Fortunately it's not yet midnight and the sushi bar is still open at the brewpub. I order a couple of sushi rolls and an IPA that's new since my last visit. They also have a new 11% Belgian quadruple named Monique. I have to get one of these as well. Upon finding out that Monique will meet me in the casino for "free", whereas she charges $5 for an encounter in the brewpub, I use my all my vouchers to pay the tab and hit the casino.

I split my play between pai-gow and VP. MSS has two bars that each serve half the casino. The half served by the brewpub bar is all machines. The pit and other half of the casino is served by what is called the casino bar. The better beers are only served by the brewpub bar, so I have to play that half of the casino to get a good beer. Strange the the slot players get better beverages than the table players. My VP game of choice is JoB because of the low volatility, low house edge, and simple strategy. On the brewpub half of the casino there are only two banks of JoB, one of which is coins, and the other is a bank of uprights with high chairs, no foot rail, which gives me leg cramps after a short while. For another point in volatility, and half a point in house edge, and the same basic strategy, I can move to BP, which is more plentiful. Research on vpfree shows a few banks of BP on the brewpub side of the casino, with a bank of slant-tops where I can put my feet on the floor close to the brewpub. So I make my first foray into BP, giving up some EV for comfort. I hit nearly back to back 4oaK right off, sixes and fives, which, even though the pay normal on BP, sit me up nicely for a good session. The CW comes by and I invite Monique to accompany me as I play. After a couple of hours, with no more quads, but a couple of dealt trip aces that got my hopes up, and a couple more visits from Monique, I call it a night. I end up down $16, but with three Moniques valued at $5 each, and $1.50 in cash back, the night becomes a fiddy cent advantage play.

At 3am I make it up to the room, 6am east coast time. At least I didn't stay up until sunrise the first night on this trip. After four go rounds with Monique I am tired.
I have had the brewpub beers at table games at MSS before. things may have changed, but they at least used to bring them to the tables.

They don't usually have an IPA there, do they? How hoppy is Monique?

You can get the standard brewpub beers (golden, pale, red, porter) at the tables and all day at the casino bar for $1.75. The brewpub has an extra four taps where they have the special beers. One tap is always Hefeweizen, another is a rotating IPA tap, and the last two are seasonal specials, currently the Belgiam quad (Monique) and a dunkel.

The Monique is not hoppy at all. It is rich and fruity with lots of the ripe dark fruit character that I love in the dark Belgiam beers.
oh, whoops, I thought the Monique was the IPA. never mind.

so if you are playing blackjack, and order a Blackchip Porter when the CW comes by, it's $1.75??? wtf?????

it used to be complimentary as long as you were playing. that is BS. total BS

and OH GOD, I may have to go try the Dunkel when I get in next week

no, not at all. Drinks are free as always for players. But if you want to take a break from the "free" drinks, you can buy the house beers for $1.75 and they now have .99 margaritas.
Day 2 - Drinking and Driving

In true sloth fashion, I took three hours to get up and get moving this morning. I woke at 9am in spite of getting to bed at 3am. I'll try and do better tomorrow. To make up for waking up too early, I spent the next two hours in bed reading, surfing, and emailing.

Since I still have the car from last night, I'm making the rounds today to my favorite suburban brewpubs. First stop is Chicago Brewing on the west side of town (Summerlin?). Now I know there is a Chicago Brewing at the 4 Queens, but they only have the regular lineup (which includes a great IPA) whereas the mothership has the full lineup with seasonals. Plus you can still get breakfast at 1pm. Currently drinking a cocoanut porter. Great mixture of the rich chocolate of the porter with cocoanut sweetness. Next up will be a Belgian double.

Next stop after Chicago will be a Total Wine in Boca Park. There I hope to find some new local beers to put in the fridge back in the room plus a bottle of nice whiskey to fill my flask to take to casinos with subpar drink choices.

OK, I think I misread then. So what you are saying is, if you are playing at the blackjack table, you can get one of the standard brewpub beers at no charge, but if you want a visit from Monique, for example, it will cost you $1.75?

Close. The standard brewpub beers are no charge while playing anywhere in the casino. The special brewpub beers like Monique and IPA are no charge while playing, but only available on the side of the casino closest to the brewpub (which is all machines). If you want to pay for a beer without gambling you can go to the casino bar and pay $1.75 for a standard beer 24 hours a day or go to the brewpub and get a standard or special beer for about $5, or $2 during happy hour. Happy hour is after midnight or a couple of hours sometime during the day that I forget.
