"A statement from the company [Hostess Brands] Tuesday evening said mediation with the Bakery, Confectionary, Tobacco and Grain Millers Union was unsuccessful. Hostess planned to return to bankruptcy court Wednesday and request to proceed with liquidating its assets."

DonDiego still has hopes for the Mexican takeover. Unfortunately he has read today that Grupo Bimbo is already having difficulty with US-anti-trust rules in some of its earlier purchases of US bakeries; Hostess may end up being sold piece-by-piece with a lot of pieces just discarded.

This is most sad, as DonDiego was looking forward to Twinkie the Kid finally getting a horse, Coronado, the mascot for Grupo Bimbo's Leche de Cabra:

The labor force participation rate is the lowest it's been since 1981 and we blew through $6 trillion over the last 4 years trying to tackle unemployment without budging the unemployment rate. Yeah, everything is f'cking hunky dory on the jobs front. Keep telling yourself that, but try explaining to your daughter why she is $40,000 in debt and all she owns is a dollhouse.

Oh yea, the employment front is doing great if you wanna work at wal mart or some other low paying, crappy benefit(if any) profession, they're always hiring. I also hear the telemarketing is really blossoming as well. Everythings fine on the western front.

So I volunteer two days a week at the local foodbank. They almost never get Hostess products in, but this morning there were racks and racks of twinkies, donettes, ho-hos, etc. Not sure why but I think one of the grocery chains said "Eff this, rather than keep restocking the shelves let's just send these things to the foodbank". Anyways, the agencies scored...they were snagging these things like there was no tomorrow...which sadly may be the case.
