Two Interesting Headlines related to Global Warming

Winter just ended last week, so could they have all that data already.

23 degrees in the frozen apple today; 5 inches of snow on the first day of spring

Indeed! Whats the point of having NASA scientists when Hoops can measure climate change by looking out his window?
TIME - warmest winter on record
The statement "warmest winter on record" is a misstatement as records have only been kept since 1880 & I suspect record keeping wasn't that accurate in the late 19th century. It also doesn't take into account that the earth is billions of years old & all the temperature changes since then. It doesn't even take into acount the Medieval Warming Period when the Vikings were able to settle in Greenland & call it that becuase it was green.

It also conveniently starts in 1880 when it is accepted that the Little Ice Age ended. So they are starting with the coldest point.

Isn't NOAA the group that recently stated that 2014 was the warmest year & when pressed admitted there was only a 38% chance it was right?

So if the earth is really warming, shouldn't that be regarded as a good thing? That would mean there is more land availble for people to live on, grow more food & in general be more productive?

Hoops says: "The statement "warmest winter on record" is a misstatement as records have only been kept since 1880 "
pjstroh replies Hence the phrase "on record" in my statement. Consult a dictionary as you seem to be confused by the English language. You challenged the statement's accuracy by suggesting the data could not be in yet (It is)....and you shrugged its accuracy because there's snow outside your window (and I had a good laugh).

Hoops says
So if the earth is really warming, shouldn't that be regarded as a good thing? That would mean there is more land availble for people to live on, grow more food & in general be more productive?

and I say
By "more land" you obviously aren't referring to Miami.

The internet provides a wealth of predictions by the same informed scientists you think you are smarter than. Most of them are pretty devastating. So far the ony thing those scientists have been incorrect about is the rate of change they initially forecasted....its now being measured to be happening at a far more accelerated pace.

But its hard to discuss scientific measurments with people who refute climate change based on the observation of snow in the winter time. I find its better to just laugh.

According to bloggers who won't reveal their last name, post threads about kewl cameras, and say that scientists they disagree with are Commies? Absolutely!

Among actual scientists? Not so much. But thanks for asking.

You cannot take 130 years iout of billions of years and call that a trend.

I meant to say habital land.

I remember in the 70's the " scientific experts" were sayging global cooling would be the end.

al gore in 2006, said we had 10 years left if we didn't fix things. Looks like that was wrong

Actually, actual scientists get to. I understand that some anonymous bloggers disagree.

And people with integrity post actual quotes with actual quotation marks. You, not so much.

Can Forkie tell us why the average temperatures went up on Venus and Mars? Was that man made global warming also?

No, it was not man made.

This has been another episode of Short Answers to Stupid Questions.

One would think Hoops would be trying to find out when HIS president is hitting the links next, instead of denying global warming on a LV forum.

Anyways, in a related note, here is an interesting article about Hoops buddy.....the dishonorable FL gov Rick Scott. Seems if you are an employee of the state of FL, you ARE NOT ALLOWED to use the words "climate change" or "global warming".

It's a lengthy read (might be beyond the comprehension of some of the "usual suspects" here), but it shows the amount of corruption and stupidity in the Republican office of the criminal Koch puppet Rick Scott.

ICEAGES.....MINI-ICEAGES, how did we get out of them, listen Liberals.......natural global warming. Wow, pretty simple huh. I want to clean up the earth as much as possible, but lets stick to facts not theories.
