Two relativies, 2 ICU's, no joking

My brother-in-law was scheduled for an angoplasty on Tues. Dr. says they are having problems getting rid of the blockage and schedules him for open heart surgery on Thurs. Brother-in-law goes in and ends up having a double bypass and comes out ok and is sent to ICU to recover.

On Fri, my mother complains she is having problems breathing. She goes into emergency and is admitted, her breathing is a mess due to her smoking and she ends up in ICU with a tube down her throat.

Great April Fools day eh?
Sorry to hear about all your relatives's problems chef. Hope everyone is on the mend. (Tell them it would have been cheaper to spend a week in a suite at the Bellagio than a day in ICU!) Seriously, I hope they're all better soon. k
I hope they get well soon. Open heart surgery takes a while to recover from. Do they know what is causing your mom's breathing problems?
I'd rather be in a suite at Bellagio than going back and forth to the hospital.

My brother in law was kinda expected to be in ICU, mom however, wasn't. Brother-in-law is talking and should be up and walking around today. Bill's a big boy and they wanted to make sure he was ready to start walking.

Mom should be talking in a day or 2. They put her out in order to treat her breathing with some stronger stuff.

They should both be ok, its just going to take some time.

Mom's had COPD for years now and I believe its running its course. Eventually, it will catch up with her, but she's as stubborn as a mule. If she would just stop smoking that would be one hell of alot better for her.

What's causing it is more than 40+ years of smoking, once she was diagnosed with emphysema, she should have stopped smoking but didn't. This was about 10 years ago and she has just gotten a little worse each year.
I hope everything works out for your family.

Thougths and prayer for good health to both.
Moms are tough . My mother smoked for 52 years and quit in the end. She passed on last year at 83 dued to congestive heart failure.
Tony I will keep your brother in law and your mom in my prayers. May they both have a speedy recovery.
