Uber & Lyft up and running

Article

Uber and Lyft are up and running. I use Uber in my hometown to get to the airport (LAX) and it costs half as much as a taxi. I probably won't need to use it in Las Vegas (I rent a car) but it'll be a nice alternative to a taxi if needed.
I used both companies until they were forced to stop for a month while our esteemed county commissioners voted too many stringent requirements into the TNC law they passed.

The backlash was so strong, the county had to change the "new" law they passed, which took one month. The final vote is on the 17th, and the TNC's should start again pdq.

When I signed up with Lyft in early June, they gave me 10 $5.00 off credits to use within two weeks. Don't know if they are still doing that or not.

For some who rent cars "for convenience", the TNC's may be a very affordable option, especially with "new user" credits.

Just my two cents. WAIT! Make that one cent, because the TNC's are about half the price of cabs.

Yes Roadtrip, I too got the first 10 rides for $5 off for Lyft. Nothing for Uber. And when I first signed up for Lyft they gave me $45 in credits to use which expired 14 days later. The only problem was that I didn't get to use it because I had signed up in preparation for possibly using it but didn't get a chance to use it yet. My advice to anyone thinking of signing up for Lyft is to wait until you plan to use it. Lyft will probably send you some good promotions, just be prepared to use it. Uber had 1/2 off summer fares, I believe but I can't recall for certain. For Uber you'll need to have a Paypal account which the fare is automatically deducted after your trip is completed, not tip is needed nor expected. I'm not sure how Lyft payments are made because I haven't entered any payment information in the Lyft app yet.

any idea on how much it would cost to uber vs. taxi from the Orleans to fremont street?

Here you go, not sure about a taxi though.
