UNDERCOVER BOSS at the MGM Grand March 20th

Nobody expected an expose. However, this was pablum. I wonder how many pots of coffee the editors went through trying to find interesting footage that would also be corporate approved. Whatever number it was, they needed one more.
what crap

Me and Bard are saying the same thing in our own different ways

i hate that you had to state the obvious, but its not surprising given who's post you were countering.

Was it fake that the COO had never gambled in a casino? Sure looked that way.

What did people really expect? Reality TV is partial reality at best.

A big part of what is wrong with the industry today is that a lot of the upper management has no gaming experience whatsoever coming in, maybe not even hospitality experience. They are business people with nice degrees from good schools who can probably run a business in any other industry pretty well, and probably have run other businesses, but know absolutely nothing about the gaming industry.

Before casinos went all corporate, a smart guy (it was pretty much all guys) could work his way up pretty quickly. But he had to know gaming to get a top job
That's a great show! I love the looks on the employees' faces when the truth is let out of the bag. Real or not it is entertaining.
In typical fashion the show demonstrates a big wig executive who cant find his own ass with both hands when given even the simplest of tasks. The numb-nuts couldn't even shoot the roulette ball around the wheel.

And when its all over he has a brief epiphany that his workers are really the heart and soul of the company...so he gives them a fruit basket and a pat on the back and then goes back to his cushy exec job that pays 100X more than the $10-heavy-lifters whose lives he briefly lived (and failed miserably at). And its all just so heart warming !

Karen has a lot of truth in this: "A big part of what is wrong with the industry today is that a lot of the upper management has no gaming experience whatsoever coming in, maybe not even hospitality experience."

One of the true casino managers who came up through the ranks of dealers was Jimmie Wike, the tables manager at Caesars until he retired a few months ago. He started as a craps dealer at Caesars.

too many execs in the industry are (forgive the term) bean counters. For heaven's sake, the biggest bean counter of them all is Loveman who has admitted he doesn't even like gamblers.
