Unemployment inaccurate?

Uh, that was kinda my whole point, chef. Hoops is complaining those older people are retired instead of looking for work. Funny, aint it?

Have a great day
Pj - third time. Workforce participation for those over 55 is increasing, but is decreasing for those under 55. How do you explain that as good news.
According to the labor dept a job is considered to be one person working one hour per month. so I am curious.

I work one job 30 hours per week. To make up the shortfall I do a number of freelance jobs, where I get 1099s and in some cases a payroll check.

So wnen I get a payroll check is that considered a "new job"? And if so am I being counted twice? The same goes for when I receive 1099s.

So am I being counted for 4- 6 jobs, when in reality I am only one person?

The unemployment rate measures people, not jobs. It measures the portion of the adult population that sought work but didn't find it.

Good answers to very simple questions are easily found on the internet.
Hoops, are you a lunatic? Everyone knows that increasing food stamp distribution is a signal of a thriving economy. Are you not paying attention?

"F'rinstance, . . . the civilian labor force participation rates data can be broken down by age-groups which the BLs has done here .
Unfortunately for the younger set, it appears those workers 55 and older are participating in the workforce longer and those workers 16-to-54 are participating less."

That damn Obama fudged the unemployment rate again! This time he made it tick up .1% even after adding 288,000 jobs.

288k jobs added in May. 5.5% unemployment rate

And you can bet LVA right wingers will fudge outrage at this report....and maybe even talk about food stamps, or black on black violence, or Bengazhi !

Dang but that Obamacare sure is a job-killer!

Pretty much exactly what Mitt Romney said would happen if President Obama won again.

Only stupid people believe that only 5.5% of our population wishes to be employed yet isn't employed.
