Unemployment inaccurate?

Five and a half months ago, this forum's right-wing kooks and their dim hangers-on (above) were drooling over the possibility that the Obama Administration faked unemployment data to win re-election. This was their thread.

Yesterday, the independent Inspector General reported there's no truth behind the story, that the numbers were legit.

That's not to say that this forum's right-wing kooks and their dim hangers-on won't stop believing it. They believe lots of false stuff, reality's not really to their liking.

But for the rest of us, here's the past year.

So how many of those jobs are less than 40 hours?

How about that labor participation rate?

How many people have given up looking for a job?

How many hours does a man need to work to be considered "employed"? If my research is correct, one hour a week and minimum wage makes one employed.

With Obamacare kicking in, more companies are going with "part time" workers. 50 part time workers are now doing the same work as the previous 30 full time works. There is no more work being done, yet it magically it causes Obama to claim that more folks are working.

I think the definition is 1 hour per month, which is why the u6 rate is so high. An even better indicator is the adult participation % which continues to decline.

In March all the job growth was in part time jobs as the # of full time jobs dropped.

While the audit indicated no wrong doing it is interesting to note the labor dept has not been able to meet it's 90% success goal on interviews since this story broke.

How is that labor force participation rate going for women and minorities?

Do most Americans feel they are better off than 5 years ago?

Just think how many more jobs we'd have right now if we followed our resident conservatves' prescription back in 2009?

- Sink the auto sector and all its downline part suppliers and all their employees
- Sink all the banks and their employees
- Sink all local businesses in towns anchored by sunken banks/auto employers.
- Cut federal government employee workforce by 20%
- Then cut food stamps and unemployment for all those unemployed people.
- Give a blank check to Haliburton to continue rebuilding Baghdad and Afghanistan ...and ignore AMerica.

In my town a restaurant went out of business last year, yet here is a new restaurant in the same location. Doesn't PJ believe that a start up company would have bought the modern GM facilities, OR don't you believe that one of the many foreign companies with a US presence would have bought those facilities.

We'd be making just as many cars today and the companies would be far better suited to succeed.

More people left the workforce than got jobs in April.

I'm on the verge of being homeless.

I haven't worked in almost 2 years for money (volunteer work).

I've got a college degree, worked as a telecommunications engineer with MCI/WCOM/Verizon for 22 years before my layoff 8 years ago.

I've been unable to find employment even though I've searched for minimum wage jobs to jobs I feel I'm qualified for.

I'm not a bum. I'm not a vagrant. I'm not looking for welfare. I'm just trying to earn an honest living at ANY occupation I can find. It is humbling, but I've never been known to have an ego.

So I think the rest of you who don't know what it's like should STFU!!!!!!!!!!!!

Especially STFU Chilcoot, until you've walked a mile in my shoes.
