Unemployment !!!

Subject: Unemployment !!!

Remember Abbott and Costello and the "Who's on First Base" conversation . . .This is better, and hits the nail square on the head about Unemployment in America !!!!!

COSTELLO: I want to talk about the unemployment rate in America .

ABBOTT: Good Subject. Terrible Times. It's 7.8%.

COSTELLO: That many people are out of work?

ABBOTT: No, that's 14.7%

COSTELLO: You just said 7.8%.

ABBOTT: 7.8% Unemployed.

COSTELLO: Right 7.8% out of work.

ABBOTT: No, that's 14.7%.

COSTELLO: Okay, so it's 14.7% unemployed.

ABBOTT: No, that's 7.8%.

COSTELLO: WAIT A MINUTE. Is it 7.8% or 14.7%?

ABBOTT: 7.8% are unemployed. 14.7% are out of work.

COSTELLO: If you are out of work you are unemployed.

ABBOTT: No, Congress said you can't count the "Out of Work" as the unemployed, it makes President Obama's employment numbers look bad! You have to look for work to be unemployed.

COSTELLO: BUT THEY ARE OUT OF WORK!!!

ABBOTT: No, you miss the point.

COSTELLO: What point?

ABBOTT: Someone who doesn't look for work can't be counted with those who look for work. It wouldn't be fair.

COSTELLO: To whom?

ABBOTT: The unemployed.

COSTELLO: But ALL of them are out of work.

ABBOTT: No, the unemployed are actively looking for work. Those who are out of work gave up looking and if you give up, you are no longer in the ranks of the unemployed.

COSTELLO: So if you're off the unemployment rolls that would count as less unemployment?

ABBOTT: Unemployment would go down. Absolutely!

COSTELLO: The unemployment just goes down because you don't look for work?

ABBOTT: Absolutely it goes down. That's how they get it to 7.8%. Otherwise it would be 14.7%. President Obama doesn't want you to read about 14.7% unemployment. It makes him look bad, incompetent, and makes him look like he doesn't have a clue what he is doing as President.

COSTELLO: That would be tough on the Democrats running for re-election.

ABBOTT: Absolutely!

COSTELLO: Wait, I got a question for you. That means there are two ways to bring down the unemployment number?

ABBOTT: Two ways is correct.

COSTELLO: Unemployment can go down if someone gets a job?

ABBOTT: Correct.

COSTELLO: And unemployment can also go down if you stop looking for a job?

ABBOTT: Bingo.

COSTELLO: So there are two ways to bring unemployment down, and the easier of the two is to have people stop looking for work.

ABBOTT: Now you're thinking like a Democrat Economist.

COSTELLO: I don't even know what the hell I just said!

ABBOTT: Now you're thinking like a Congressman.

That's okay, comedy is hard.

Government sector jobs are way down, the private sector is doing fine:

Obama's Administration Fiction- 7.8% unemployment ------ Americans Real Life Reality- 14.7% out of work. Why is the American public being fed and buying Obama's bullshit about the real unemployment numbers? How many more years can America survive the obtuse liberal Democrats unfettered spending? Just more of the "change you can believe in" ----- I hope that all of you Obama voters are happy with your President.
The best measure is the adult participation rate which remains at 30+ year lows

Amazing how you right wing nut jobs blame Obama for the still high unemployment, especially since the republicans have said from day one they would not help him accomplish anything. Here in Mich.,three years ago we were rated 48 in the country in unemployment. Thanks to our republican gov.,we are still rated 48th.The only bright spot here in Mi. is the auto industry is getting healthy again.
We've come such a long way. After 50 months of uninterrupted job growth the conservative criticism has gone from predicitions of "double dip recessions" to now complaining the job growth isn't fast enough.

For the record, we were adding jobs much more quickly in 2009 when we had a Congress THAT ACTUALLY ADDRESSED THE ISSUE.

Since arriving in 2011 with a mandate to create jobs the Boehner Congress has done nothing except vote to repeal Obamacare 44 times....all the while working fewer days than any Congress in the last 100 years. And that was too much work - Eric Cantor has scheduled them to work even less this year. I invite Hoops and DrMilled to write a letter and complain

Ain't got no dog in this continuing fight, but "Government sector jobs are way down"?
The Washington, DC area has a lower unemployment rate than most of the country so is this from private sector jobs?

And a link for it too.

Absolutely. The Contractor-Industrial Complex is going stronger than ever. Ever hear of CGI, the government contractor that constructed the Obamacare website? How about Booz Allen Hamilton, the contractor that paid about $150,000 to a high school dropout named Edward Snowden?

Before the 1980's counties around Washington D.C. were middle class, populated largely by government workers. Now, four of the five wealthiest counties in the country are DC adjacent; Lowden, Arlington, and Farifax, VA, and Howard MD. Ain't capitalism great? Pay hundreds of millions to a "private" company which exists exclusively on government contracts, and no one complains. Pay a public school teacher $70k, and people freak out.

2 can play.

Like all Liberals, Forkie is out of touch. I sell to some 100 manufacturing companies, and call on 50 of these quite regularly. You don't have a clue what's going on out there.

It's better than 3 years ago, and it's terrible.
