Unnerving

The cops just left. Couldn't sleep so decided to get up and do some catch up on the bathroom(remodeling our master). To do some of my cuts I have to open the garage door for my table saw. I've done this umpteen times over the 18 yrs I've lived here, even leaving the garage door open all night on several times. Of course I'm walking in and out between the BR and the garage, taking a break on occasion. Lo and behold, I get up, walk out to the garage and there's some MF'ing POS in my garage(it's full of tools, it's a woodshop). So pissed I didn't get a better look at him. Debated on calling the cops but thought I should, for nothing else than give a heads up for this POS. I was so pissed off I was cussing him all the way down the driveway, don't think he'll be back.Hope not anyway, not allowed to shoot anyone for entering my garage(I asked). House is a different matter

Unbelievable..this is the quietest neighborhood as one can get, dead ends on every street. To say I was shocked is an understatement. Three in the AM and some a-hole starting to root around in my garage..GRRR!
Damn. Did you get any sleep after that?
Sorry to hear that. There is no place on earth immune to bad stuff.
That is very unsettling. Even though he didn't get anything it's such a sense of feeling being invaded.

Time to get a good dog that would have barked at him and scared him off.
I'd be worried that a black bear might be out for the occasional pre-dawn snack.

However John, you must remember low-life-degenerates are always on the prowl.
He was probably cruising the local neighborhoods for any unlocked vehicles,
in hopes of finding loose change in the ashtrays.
Then he saw your garage door open, the light on,
thought that you forgot to close up for the night, ..... and said "Bingo !!!".

Rick
No not much sleep after that, I continued working a bit trying to calm down. We DO have dogs who always go ballistic whenever anyone comes remotely close to the house. Last night? Worthless guys slept right through it, I was even screaming at lexie( our mostly lab) to get her butt out here. After all was said and done, she groggily walked out and was like, "Huh?, what's going on, why are you yelling dad?" A whole lotta good they were.HAHA

Somehow I don't think he'll be back, I think it scared him pretty well when I opened the door, I'm sure it didn't help his position when he heard me screaming, cussing and told 'em if I ever see him again around here, I'm gonna shoot his a$$. Thing is you're not allowed to shoot anyone for being in your garage unless he's threatening you. Maybe next time invite him for tea and cookies.
Perhaps the wanderer was seeking a capable carpenter to build him an Adirondack Chair for his lake front residence.

Hmmm. I was also thinking the poor guy was just looking for an All-Night woodshop for some emergency sawing or routing needs.

No doubt he would have taken something, a hammer, tried to get inside and do some damage. You did right to call the cops.

I will add the story that my dad who had Alzheimers walked all the way into the wrong home when he was staying with my brother. Upscale neighborhood, went out for his daily walk, got confused, wrong street, garage was open, thought it looked like my brother's. Thankfully the people didn't react too badly, dad knew my brother's name, the people got in touch with him, all ended well. This was broad daylight, of course, but we were glad the people didn't get scared and try to hurt him. 85 years old but looked younger, robust, friendly.
