dd, system restore is a double edged sword. Depending on how you do the process, you can cause more trouble than you had.

Never click on any pop up, kill it in taskmgr (or taskmaster as a user said to me last week).
Install fresh and never frozen.
Drink beer and eat beans at every meal. You'll have loads of swell friends.

btw, I installed flesh and a naked women popped up asking for a 900 number and $4.99 a minute...

I DON'T mess with the registry.
IF you really get a bad virus or RANSOME WARE,remove your hard drive and toss it across your yard into your recycle bin.
Start over.Clean install.

It's a quick way of stopping those "hey we found a virus and let us scan your system" pop up viruses. 'Cause if you click on the pop up in any way, you install the virus.

FYI Firefox is now disabling/blocking Flash plug in.
