the traditional silver strike has 6-tenths of an ounce of silver. with silver today at $33.58 an ounce, a "true" silver strike has $20.14 worth of silver.

Watched as a girl hit five SSs at the Four queens in early Feb. Note on the machine states some strikes are silver, others are clad. All hers were clad, but she was able to exchange them at the cashier for $10 cash each.

manterro thanks for the links but unfortunately I couldnt find any comprehensive list of what casinos are offering what.

billryan that is interesting that a sign says some silver strikes might actually still be in the machines. I thought that by now all of the strikes would just be clads.

I think the strikes that are in red airtites still have solid silver centers and the rest are clad.

Four Queens and Sam's Town are the only casinos in town that still have Silver Strikes. Ratio of silvers to clads is around 1:8 or 1:10, and as Bob mentioned, the silvers are in the red plastic cases.

Bill is right. I saw a woman last week cash three of them at the casino cage at the Four Queens. They gave here 30 bucks.
Silver Strikes (clad or silver) are $10 tokens, and can be cashed at the cage just as any other token for the face value.
