Flight in seemed uneventful until the landing gear went down and things got a little choppy. Even though the seat belt light was lit, a guy looking a little green ran in the bathroom as we were landing. The flight attendant got on the intercom to tell him to get out of the bathroom and get back in his seat and puke into the air sick bag. He didn't listen. He rode out the landing in the bathroom and emerged after we touched down. He still looked green. Poor guy. I felt bad for him.
Checked into Flamingo using the "secret" Gold card line. Scored a free "upgrade" to an end of hall suite. Room was ok. Very quiet. And in the craziness of Flamingo, quiet is good.
I could write a lot but gamblinggrandmother's trip report about Flamingo is spot on. It's a bit of a crazy place at the Flamingo. We usually get to a lot of places in Vegas but this trip was basically spent between IP and PH. We ventured across the street twice. Once to Caesars and once to Cosmo.
Second day in town we drove out to Primm where I left the wife at the mall/casino while I played golf at Primm Desert. We were happy in Primm. The mall, golf and casinos were all very nice; even Whiskey Pete's.
Gambling:
Just started to play craps. Had 2 winning sessions and a lot of losing ones. The wife hit 4oak on DDB and TB several times to cover my losses.
Bingo at Gold Coast: Our first time we used the paper and daubers. It was like that I Love Lucy episode in the candy factory. We couldn't keep up. We went back a couple days later and got the electronic boards. No work involved. Just sit back and sip the complimentary cocktails. We were one away from hitting a full board for $35000. On every subsequent number, the prize went down to $10,000, $5,000, $1,000 until $350 and then we still didn't hit it. But, it was fun to be that close.
Restaurants:
GP's at Primm: Great meal for the money.
The burger place at Paris: ate here twice. The Paris burger is superb. The midnight hot mocha chocolate drink think there is also superb. 2 for 1 drinks from 5-7 and 9-12 is a great deal.
Joe's Stone Crab, Steak...: We ate light here at the bar and it was great as usual.
Cortez Room at Gold Coast: Another old school steak house with great prices.
Maple Cafe: We drove out here to check it out and give them business. The decor is very cool but it's kind of awkward to use the bathroom as you feel like you're in the kitchen. Food was good.
Battistas: Was in the mood for chicken parm so we asked the bartender at IP for recommendation. After hearing so much good and bad about this place, we decided to see for ourselves. We'd go back. The chicken parm isn't as good as Carmine's but it's certainly good. My wife had the salmon special and it was cooked perfectly. Nice piece of fish. The decor is a bit over the top but that's the whole point. The accordion player/singer is so bad he just adds to the experience. The free house wine is ok for a box wine drinker like me and cappuccino is very sweet and very good.
On a side note, Carmine's is opening a 700 seat restaurant in the Forum Shops this winter.
Bill's Steakhouse: Old school steak house with red velvet booths. Bought a 25% off coupon from the Tix4Tonight booth. Our second time here.
Shows:
Jeff Civillico at IP: great show for $10. If you like Jim Carrey, juggling and sight gags, you'll love this show.
Cook E. Jarr: our first time seeing this crazy man. Better than Big Elvis!
Awesome 80's Prom: The thing with these types of interactive theater is that you get out of the show what you put into the show. The wife and I are normally kind of shy but not at these types of shows. We had a good time and eventually the rest of the audience got into the swing of things. We interacted a lot with the cast, especially Inga, the Swedish exchange student. Perhaps we interacted too much because Inga asked us to be her host family for the night while showing us her panties and cleavage and promising us a good time. I think she was just acting.
Evil Dead, the musical: What a crazy show. It took us an hour to realize that cast of Evil Dead was the same cast as Awesome 80's Prom. If you sit in the spatter seats you will get soaked in blood. We sat in the back; away from the blood.
Other:
Walking through Flamingo someone tapped me on the shoulder. I turned to see who it was and it was a timeshare guy asking me something. I went a little ballistic yelling at him not to touch me or touch anyone else.
Walking through Flamingo about midnight while the wife was sitting on a couch back by the Sin City brewery bar, a very hot young woman in short tight dress asked me if I wanted to party. I know what she really meant.
IP is a lot deader than it was previous years as they're doing construction. Flamingo and Bill's are very loud and fun. Lots of security in Flamingo and Bill's.
Guy on the pedestrian bridge between Bill's and Bally's had a sign reading "kick me in the balls for $20". Never saw anyone kick him.
The Walgreens at PH is huge and very nice. Oh, and expensive for a Walgreens.
