Vegas Nocturne (aka Rose rabbit Lie) vs Absinthe?

Speaking of mourning things, who was able to see Vegas Nocturne, aka rose rabbit lie, at the cosmo before it went under? What did you think and did you also see Absinthe? I loved rose rabbit/nocturne and thought it was one of the best shows ever and can't believe they closed it and it did not take off....they did a horrible job marketing it...that place is crazy awesome.

As for Absinthe, I liked it, but it was definitely second fiddle to Rose rabbit....the characters were not as well developed, the actors, nor the talent....the only thing they had that was great were the roller skaters....a must see...

let's just say rose rabbit had the bath tub guy, genius whoever came up with that and Piff, now on america's got talent. Absinthe's talent was just not as well designed....the movie reel scene, and the 4 main characters of rose rabbit are the best ensemble and characters ever and I am a theater buff. The glass guy, the tappers (they did move to absinthe)....so many acts to mention. I am forgetting some.

Also if you want to see some up and coming cirque acts for cheaper, the V Variety show, had some roller skaters, who were very good, but absinthe's were amazing and I liked the emcee for V.

Actually a few years back, Jubilee had cirque vignettes during set changes and had the best mexican gaucho guys ever...those rope knocker things. I think that is what they are called. I love that cirque has brought back the variety show.

I agree that rose rabit lie was not marketed much at all, didn't see any reviews, though I'm sure LVA must have written one.

Haven't seen either show. Might see Absenthe this week. There are folks outside promoting it and begging people to buy tickets, so it will probably disappear soon, even though everything I've read about it has been positive.
I recommend it, Rose rabbit was just flawless, in my opinion. Absinthe is good. Tight quarters though, they need to move the seats a bit. It goes strong, haven't heard any rumors to closing. I do think the tent aspect adds a quality. Like Ka, I like theaters made for a show. I don't think it will go anywhere as it is the only show Harrah/CET has... they need to step up their game in that area, I don't step foot in MGM props except for cirques, but we are actually Harrahs customers. Jersey Boys is good, but they inherited that hit. I was excited to see Million Dollar Quartet, but thought it was going to be a bigger production and theater than it was at Harrahs. And other than Celine, have been underwhelmed with Elton and Shania at their venue. Would love to see Mariah, she has great reviews. Britney (went for free) was subpar at PH.

Ka is one of my all time favorite shows.

I've never even heard of rose rabbit.

Rose Rabbit Lie has always been on my short list, but never enough nights in Vegas. And it doesn't help they are closed Sunday's, Mondays and Tuesday's. Menu looks intriguing, too. I would appreciate any current information.

LOL.

That might be a reason it is defunct.

I've stayed at Cosmo lots of times, and it was never promoted/advertised in the hotel rooms, so how did they think people were supposed to know it existed?
Yes, something was amiss there. Actually I like cosmo, but from the beginning, I was going up the escalators, therefore lost, the very first time and was going to the pool movie thing....couldn't navigate to save my life, asked an employee, who ended up being a host and rightfully so offered to walk me...while walking, he then tells me they are not making any money (a customer) and since I was meeting girlfriends offered to get in vip and also give him a call later....good service, but odd with the "not making any money".

While going to rose rabbit because it was free to me (I then always told people it was great and would have actually paid to go), the upstairs lounge is full of rich, drunk, high people....like abnormally so...they would be passed out rolling on the floor...like I've never worked a day in my life kids. Not posers.

Then a few weeks ago, prior to the fire, same thing with the unruly kids. Then, hmm, they set the place on fire.

I am not sure the situation with rose rabbit, the food is unique, so I didn't really ever eat there, but when you entered Vegas Nocturne, aka rose rabbit (also the marketing issue) you went through the lounge eatery...I am supposing they are still doing the musical entry, it was circus/burlesque like. the whole place was just kinda magical.

I have lived here 12 years and it was one of my favorite things and yes, no one has ever heard of it and we only accidentally heard about it, but not because of advertising.

But something in cosmo management is messed up for sure...it is even one of the best places to hang really, chandelier bar, decent comps and drink service....I like cosmo, they really need to get their marketing together....they have a great identity if they managed it well.

My wife and I saw Vegas Nocturne the week before closure last year. While I have not yet seen Absinthe, so I can't compare the two, I can say that VN is my favorite Vegas show to date. The Cirque shows are fantastic and dreamy, but VN was FUN and very FUNNY and the layout of the theater/bar/restaurant RRL made it even better.

VN had 3 shows per night, each one different, and after the third show, the main theater becomes a club. So, your ticket would get you into RRL where you could sit at the bar while show performers would do acts on a little stage, or on the bar itself, while you waited to get into the seated theater, which was pretty small. Seating in the theater was reserved, so your ticket was also used for that purpose. After the show, the bar stayed open, a du would stand on a rotating platform that went 1/2 rotation in the theater and that dance floor, and 1/2 into the backstage area behind the bar, which was also part of the dance floor. It was crazy. I don't dance, but it was fascinating to watch people get their club on. The characters from the show would mingle about, and sometimes, in the bar area, break out into another act. Just mayhem everywhere.

I was saddened to read a it its demise. It deserved far better marketing. The billboards said "Vegas Nocturne at Rose. Rabbit. Lie.", which was very confusing as you drove around town. It made no sense, until you parted with cash and saw the place. Cosmo screwed up big time. I have read that the show recently appeared in NYC, so maybe it has a life there (that place has EVERYTHING), but I hope it comes back to Vegas, at the Cosmo, in that space, with a campaign that clarifies what the heck it is.

Glad that you got it too....I love shows and yes, it is pretty much my fave too. Something perfect and magical about it....well designed. If you ever have a chance to see Puddles Pity Party somewhere, I think you'd like it too. It is a one man show and also a flawless show.

Thanks for the info about nyc, I didn't know it found a home...rumor was it was looking for a home here in town. Several acts are elsewhere now though.

Ha ha. Pun intended? Cosmo's players' club is "Identity".

I agree, though, Cosmo management is apparently clueless. It is such a unique, beautiful property, but something always seems to go wrong every single time we have stayed there. Mostly sloppy/nonexistent housekeeping.
When the Marriott benefits changed (from two free Wicked Spoon buffets PER DAY to Two buffets PER STAY), we looked elsewhere to stay. We still get comped room offers, for some reason . . .
