Vegas Strip Observatiom....

Daughter wanted a room for a birthday party for a friend so got one at Harrahs and one at Excaliber for me. Hoofing up the strip after checking her in I couldn't help but notice how dead the City Center side was compared to the opposite side.

The section from V/P to MGM was wall to wall people. The section from TI to Bellagio was packed. Cosmo to NYNY......dead.

I wonder if the lack of sidewalks and the pain of going up, down, in, and out of all those places has hurt that side more than they considered. Even NYNY and Monte Carlo were deader than a doornail on a Friday Night. Excaliber was packed.

Just found it interesting to observe the difference in the two sides of the strip.

OH, checked out the new Tropicana...really nice and light. Good promo going on where you basically get your losses rebated instantly. Pretty much a non gambling trip for me but I actually won a mini progessive there on 2nd spin ($43) so took the cash and left.

I loved Cosmo and Aria but you're right, it's major PITA to walk down the strip on that side. They fixed the sidewalk in front of PH so you could walk without detours. Having made the walk from Caesars to NYNY, it'd probably opt to cross over to the Flamingo side of the street, walk down and cross back over the MGM bridge.
I think it may be that way by design: the City Center side is all set back from the strip, almost barricaded, to exclude the crowd you'll find on the other side. Bellagio's fountains serve the same purpose: the casino and hotel seem "set off," superior, exclusive.
We noticed the same thing last year. Not near as much foot traffic on the west side of the strip where the City Center is and the east side was very busy.

Obviously due to the up and around and down and through nonsense of the west side.

We walked on the City Center one time and that was enough for us. We walked on the other side the reminder of the trip even though we were staying at the Monte Carlo.

So much of a PIA that the wife wants to stay north of the City Center from now on.
