Vegas World, Question of the day.

Since today's QotD pertains to Vegas World, I dug out this piece of memorabilia from circa 1984. These could be found practically everywhere in LV at that time.

Here's an old thread I started on Vegas World....

Vegas World Memories
Thanks you for those old memories.
We also saw the offer in Parade Magazine.
I don't recall the specifics, but we figured it was too good to be true! Ha.

We did go in to play a little in the casino.
That floating astronaut has appeared in a few nightmares since then. LOL
I dreamed recently that Vegas World was still open and operating in the shadow of the Stratosphere. Been having some outlandish dreams lately. I took a nap earlier today and dreamed that MS State and Ole Miss were ranked #1 and #3 in football in the AP and coaches poll.

Seen Bob Stupak (was from Steubenville, Ohio at onetime) in the old GN about a year before he passed away. Stopped and tried to talk to him but he seemed all mix-up and his words you could not understand......He had that motorcycle accident and was laid up for quite a long time. Still remember that huge wheel as you entered the place....
Vegas world was my first "semi" comped trip to Vegas.

Boarded a chartered plane in Dallas, three free nights, two free meals a day, $500 in match play or some other kind of convoluted ruled promotional chips, a fantastically fun coupon book, all for $199. It was a helluva deal.
I remember the ads for LVW in Gambling Times.

I can also remember the first time visiting it. I first of all was about to park near the door and was told that was their valet, even though I didn't see a valet person there.

Near the valet area was a pool that was the size of a pool in someone's back yard. I assume this was the hotel pool.

When I walked in with a friend, I was amazed at how small the place was. The picture in Gambling Times included reflections in the mirrors which made it look much bigger.

My friend and I asked someone where the sports book was. We were told to go around an area that was jutting out into the casino and that it was on the other side. We walk around this thing, and on the other side there was a table with two chairs and a chalk board standing behind it. We must have laughed for five minutes.

I had one other friend who said he got the Stupak vacation offers. He said that he went to the roulette table with the chips and bet on a color. If he won, he was given real chips. If he lost, he lost. He would then cash them and go to another casino.

We were all set to go on that package deal for our first extended Vegas stay - not counting a one-day "drive-by" - when we got the word - - it was lights out at Vegas World.

I think we got a letter, which did get us instructions on getting our money back. Wasn't sure that would actually come to pass, but we did get the refund without any issues at all.

Ended up at the Vegas Club - which wasn't too badly beat up at the time!!!
Yeah,I did that one way back when.
Casino was WAY SMALL.
A bitch to figure out what chips to keep and what to play with.
Still,it was fun.
Too good to be true? Yeah.
