Sheldon is no dummy. Ive been with him when he discussed such fine details as the shape and size of lighting in the lobbies of the P. If they are changing their model and no longer cater to lower level players theyve probably thought it out pretty well.

When I see statements such as this I'm reminded of when Wynn opened. At first they handed out blank club cards and told people to come back when they had 500 points and only then would they take their personal information. The implication was clear; they didn't need to cater to the fleas because they believed whales would fill their hotel night after night. It didn't take too long before that changed to where they not only actively sought out any player to be part of their database but they also gave away an expensive buffet for only a marginal amount of play to help draw them in.

It certainly is possible that convention business is enough to keep LVS profitable, but I suspect that the regular visits by fleas is what pays the electric bill and pissing them off is probably going to have significant consequences.
Don't make this out as though Wynn is so innocent or learned his lesson. He pulled comped drinks from the bars long ago and it still holds today. He obviously hasn't learned much of a lesson from that test.

Yes Rizzo. I recommended that they go to the casino, pay the casino rate, and then attempt to get the room comped. I said that because their "comp" was pulled only days before their planned trip. Did you expect me to tell them to skip their trip? It also seemed as though it was their first choice-- didnt it appear that way to you?

Yes, I stopped playing at Mandalay. But Im in Los Angeles, and I go to Vegas several times a month simply by getting in my car and going for a four hour drive. Switching hotels on short notice is very easy for me. No plane tickets, no advance planning involved.

And for the record, the first time I stayed at Caesars I wasnt comped -- I took a room not even at "casino rate." I checked in at "rack rate," and got a players card. And while I was playing a host came over to me and asked me if I had a host? From there, it was all comps.

No, Im not talking out of both ends. But I am flattered that you keep looking for something to trip me up.

edited to add:

Bob, you make me laugh. I don't need this message board to make my opinion about a company or stock known. I have better ways to broadcast my opinions.

MoneyLa...Don't believe for one second that I am FrankRizzoJr and that I keep looking for something to trip you up on.

F-Rizzo Jr is some cheese dick imposter that is too scared to type shit under their own screen name, so he made up this one, so he could hide behind it, and people would think its me.

Unlike everyone else on this thread....I know what is going on here...you feel its your job to take the opposite point of everyone else in "most" topics on here because you feel that its your job to get "lively discussion" going.

These poor saps haven't learned to just ignore you and your silly, retarded responses...they'll just keep arguing with you over and over again.

If everyone, but you believes that yanking a free room offer from is a bad thing...why are these dopes still arguing with you about it?

Are they that concerned that you might influence something later on down the line for them? Or are they really worried about you getting screwed out of getting a free room offer? Sheeesh

Personally I'll let you go on believing that it was a good thing to get room offers yanked...its not going to affect me what some moron on a message board thinks

Just remember folks...a few months back, this guy was crying like a bitch, about a 50 dollar Macy's gift card promotion that they ran over some Jewish holiday, at some casino! LOL

He was crying over his candles about it, because he couldn't particpate, and was demanding that they change the dates.

He wasn't on the casino's side then and he isn't on the casinos side now...he just wants to get people cheesed off and constantly arguing over stupid shit.

It seems to be working....go ahead ...if it makes you feel better...keep arguing with him you dummies.

Going back to the double booking issue...

When the casino sends the offer with the requirement that you stay in their hotel, they want to be your home casino for those days. I do not believe they want you to come in and check into a room that you do not plan to even visit, pick up the food coupon or freeplay, play an hour or two, and be on your way. They want to be your home hotel because they know they will get more of your action with the late night or early morning sessions when you can't sleep. They will be where you have that late night snack and morning breakfast. You'll hit their gift shop for the extra tube of toothpast when you discover the one you packed is almost empty.

Sure they know you'll be running around during the day as you make the rounds to your favorite spots. But at the end of the day you'll come back to them and they'll have your full attention for the rest of the night.

This may not be true for everyone, but I'd say it is true for enough people that the casino comes out ahead by having people to actually stay there when they make these offers. Otherwise they would not make it a package deal.

I do not believe it is fair to accept their offer knowing that is comes with the condition that you stay at their hotel when you have no intention to holding up your side of the agreement.

The guy was DOUBLE BOOKED...how can you forget that? Why would he want to pay a casino rate? He wouldnt have to cancel his trip.

No kidding, huh?!
My recent experience--used to get offers last year of $250 promo chips + $50 dining credit + comp'd 2 nights from P/V (play mostly table games). Past few years only stayed there once per year for 2 nights each, and gave them $100--$200 / hand Baccarat play for 4-5 hrs each day. Emailed my host for a 2 night stay in Jan 11 and he told me all offers have been discontinued, and could not be honored anymore. He was kind enough to offer me 2n comp room + $200 FB. I passed.

Not happy at all about all this, but apparently having a host there at P/V helps.
