I don't think anyone here is or would be. That's not the issue at stake with Venetian/Palazzo and their new comp policy.
So money LA's son slapinfunk shows up, calls everybody bonus whores and everythings fine now. SHEESH
time to move on. don't you think?
I have to totally disagree about Harrahs/CET downgrading offers and comps. I only make it out to Vegas once a year for a week, and I'll play at a Harrahs/Ceasars property a few times a year depending on where my travels are. I am not a big time gambler at all. Last year my total loses at CET properties were only a little over $100, and my total input was around $1000. I am still getting offers every month in my Total Rewards for free room for up to a week at any CET property in Vegas except Caesars of course. The wife is similar in her gambling. She lost a bit more, but her total input was about the same. She gets the same offers as me, and also gets free room offers in Atlantic City, and Caesars Windsor along with free play and meal comps at Windsor. Sometimes I think they send offers based on how often you visit too. I realize that the majority of offers are based on how much you lose. Just saying I still am getting the same offers I have gotten the past few years, and my gambling totals have not varied much.

Hi Garth. Harrah's is famous for handing out the free rooms. The cut backs I am referring to include free play, shopping sprees and gift promotions. What used to be standard $2500 promos for 7 Stars players have been scaled back to $1250 or even $750. At the same time, the list of stores cooperating with Harrahs for their shopping sprees has also been cut back, indicating that Harrahs was unable to "buy down" the stores to cooperate. The various properties this year also started something new: you could take "free play" instead of the gifts and the strategy with that is that the "free play" probably would cost the casino less than the value of the gift (video poker excluded for this swap, slot machines only though they have allowed some table vouchers). Free rooms will never go away for Harrahs (now Caesars)... unless they take a cue from LVS. Free rooms is the "loss leader" of the Loveman strategy figuring once you are on the property you will gamble, you will see a show, you will use the restaurants, you will use the gift shops more than the cost of the room.

edited to add:

The company recently started something new: they are breaking up "Diamond" into various tiers. This opens the door to scaling back the "lower diamond offers" from the "higher diamond players."

A similar thing was done for 7 Stars in early 2010. There are special bonuses for 7 Stars players who have higher tier scores.

"regular 7 stars" is 100,000
level 1 is at 125,000
level 2 is at 200,000
level 3 is at 500,000
level 4 is at 1-million
level 5 is 3-million and up

Now, right now they are saying that the "higher tier levels" earn extra comps. But if they want to tighten their belts a notch or two they can say that the "lower tier levels" will get lesser comps.

I have no idea what you're babbling about, MoneyLA. I have never abused the privilege of comps, and I don't believe Mare has, either. I've "donated" plenty over the years to the casinos. They couldn't care less whether I sleep in their beds, as long as I play on their machines. And I did -- every time I booked a room. You have no idea what you're talking about, and I guess we're just beating our heads against a wall trying to make you understand.

Anyway, none of this has anything to do with why Sheldon Asshole has cut off the majority of his gambling customers. That's just plain stupidity.

Yes, I work for a casino company. Stations has set a goal for the future -- to return to the "old" way of offering more value to our guests. More dining values. More entertainment at low prices. Looser slots and more full-pay video poker. More promotions and offers. The return of the Grand Cafes as a result of customer requests. More couponing (check out this year's MRB). This all came down to us via the chief operating officer, on behalf of the Fertittas. Quite the opposite of what Sheldon is doing.

Go back to sticking your nose into other people's poker hands and trying to buy them, and quit talking about things you know nothing about.

Wow! Whats so hard to understand about the fact that it is "His game, His rules". He use HIS own cash to build those joints not yours. Get over your petty jealousy.
Maybe you should worry about things like "why your kids are in Chicago, and you're a degenerate gambler in Vegas. WTF kind of mother leaves her kids!!

Every one who gambles is guilty of bonus whoring one way or another... There was a time, quite some time ago when Money and I would drive to Pechanga, play our free money, and run to Rincon... It didn't take long for them to catch up to us and stop sending as much $ in the offers so they simply werent worth it anymore and we completely expected that to happen. If we had a desire to play there as much anymore we would, but, we like "Caesars" properties and prefer to put our $ into our Total Rewards offers by playing at Rincon so we can use them in Vegas etc...

There are obviously different levels of bonus whoring, and there are player that take advantage of it and give a minimum return, and ones that give more (in the Casinos eyes that is). But don't cry about your offers being taken back because you are not meeting the expectations of the Casino with your volume of play etc.

I think this thread went off in many different directions while referring to bonus whoring / double booking / etc etc on different levels...

Book where ever you want, what ever you want. But if you are going to expect as juicy of an offer in the future, you are going to have to play for it...

no one is arguing that.

what the logical people in this thread are saying is that someone DID play, DID get an offer and then had it rescinded 60 hours before they landed in vegas because of a new policy.

and that dude who made the comment about sue's kid - they are grown ups. maybe your children's apples didnt fall too far from the tree, but full functioning adults dont need their mommies taking care of them once adulthood kicks in.

tomdoug - I have been accused of being rude on these forums but I don't compare with the rudeness you expressed to Sue Casey. If I had of been present and if you would have said your comments to her in person I would of punched you in the mouth.
