Venetian/Palazzo RESCINDING offers that have already been booked!!!

I echo what the Bard says. ... says. . . . says. . . . s a y s . . . . .

It is good to share this info with other players and react with your feet. I agree that this is egregious, but they always cover their asses with fine print. While they are covering their back sides kick them in the front side by swearing off of giving them any business and share this info with others.

I used to rail against "the system" especially when good VP plays were disappearing left and right. It does little good to rant or rave, just move on to the next place. The V was a good play for a short time, but it didn't last. The strip in general just doesn't have any deals for us small time VP players any more.
There are still some good stay and plays for those willing to get out to the lemming lines on the strip.
Just a fine point about fine print,it won't necessarily be upheld in court.
I would really be curious how the LV media would respond to this?

First, I think the media would support Adelson. Im sure LVS spends a lot of advertising money with the local media-- and out of town players wanting comped rooms don't.

Secondly, I think Vegas residents would also support Adelson because higher casino revenue might mean more jobs --and Adelson did say revenue increased with the change.

Third, I dont think locals in Vegas give a damn if out of towners get comps or not and probably THINK that $79 or $129 a night is not going to make or break plans for a Vegas trip-- and if it does-- they don't want you there anyway.

For the record, I mentioned this thread to several people I know in the LV media-- and there was NO reaction. I dont know if that means they don't care, or if they are looking into it. Im simply saying there was NO reaction.

But I am pretty confident about this one point: if it works for Adelson, other casino companies will follow his lead.

Basically, V/P decided it wasn't in the casino business anymore. Call it what you will, but catering to about 5% of your client base means, in essence, you're out of the gambling business. That 5% sliver, whales or not, is not going to provide the revenue. Even if you buy the old "10% of clients provide 90% of revenue" line, which is outdated, this strategy certainly will not fill the rooms. And, taking issue with what Money said, I think we both can agree Adelson timed this so he could, in essence, report that revenues were up immediately after doing so. It was, I'm sure, projected to be such on these dates --- the real impact will be down the road. Based on stock price effects, not many are buying this.

Anthony Curtis said it was a terrible thing. How is that NO reaction?

"But I am pretty confident about this one point: if it works for Adelson, other casino companies will follow his lead."

They can try, but how many steady suppliers of thousands of guests are out there?
"Im sure LVS spends a lot of advertising money with the local media"

Really? Where? I read the newspaper daily, and never see adds for Venetian/Palazzo in there. They aren't advertising on local TV, either.
i sure as all hell hope that every other casino in vegas follows suit and that they all make millions more without offering comps because id like to not have my life cut short when my head explodes from reading whatever nonsense moneyla will post to get out of admitting he was wrong.
Jenaphir, what exactly am I wrong about? Adelson made this policy, I didnt. Adelson said that LVS was cutting off the comps, I didn't. What did I do?

Oh, I know.

I pointed out that Adelson has a different strategy for his properties. Duh.
I pointed out that Adelson is going after the convention business which doesnt need to comp players. Duh.
I pointed out that Adelson is going after business travelers who don't need comps. Duh.

Oh, one more thing, by not giving comps he just might able to lower costs for all of his visitors and guests.

That makes me "wrong" ?

But I know where you disagree with me: I said a casino has the right to withdraw an offer even on short notice. Well, dear Jenaphir, yes, a casino does have that right. I wouldnt like it happening to me either.

Now, again, where was I "wrong" ?

Oh, I know where I was wrong!! At first I was skeptical that LVS was cancelling comped rooms for NO good reason. Well, it turns out they have a good reason. They dont want low level gamblers.

Well, find another place to play.
