Venetian/Palazzo RESCINDING offers that have already been booked!!!

Do you think the V/P can alienate all non-high rollers and rely on high rollers and conventioneers to fill up those two big hotels?

I do not.

LOVE that last post FedOMalley!!!!

They didn't cancel it..they just told him it was no longer comped. They were happy to have him if he PAID...

Well to me that's the same thing as canceling. They tell you you have a free room-give you a confirmation number and then call at the last minute to demand money?
Total scumbag move.
That's totally different from not giving people future comps-that is their right. But to "Indian give" on a comped room calls for a boycott.
Why isn't Anthony Curtis looking into this and publicizing it?

Exactly right....it is the same thing....just a shake down.....and to do it AFTER someone has a confirmed reservation screams scumbag.

Once again, if people who are aware of this continue to patronize this place, you can expect the decision to be vindicated and there will be no turning back. Vote with your pocketbook and tell them that this kind of customer service won't be tolerated.

And to do it with only 60 hours warning for Super Bowl weekend (where switching to another comped room would not be an option for most) screams double scumbag.

Thee absolute dumbest thing said this month-
When you "double book" you potentially are keeping out someone else who will shop, and play, and dine, and tip, and see shows at that property.

And if you are just double booking to get their free play (which is what I think some might do) then you are costing the hotel, raising their costs, and hurting the entire comp system and their revenue and forcing them to tighten everything to protect their bottom line.

In fact, you are hurting yourselves.

Yea right, vegas hotels have been running at max occupancy lately LOL!

The funniest thing said this month-
Go back to sticking your nose into other people's poker hands and trying to buy them, and quit talking about things you know nothing about.

I'll second that statement!

You do understand that the casinos routinely double book a percentage of rooms themselves?

No one is immune from double booking.
Great post, Dan -- you said it perfectly.

Money -- As Dan said, it is my prerogative to play or not play when I take an offer since it is given to me based on past play. If I want future offers I will play, if I don't want future offers from that property I won't play if I don't want to.

However, by not staying there and being double triple booked the casino is also not paying out on all components of the offer as I might not use their dining credit, free show tickets offered to me, etc... And if I put a friend or family member in the room then they also have MORE people to shop, gamble, and dine in their hotel/casino, so they benefit even more.

Let me just give you a quick example: One of the places I'm booked at is Four Queens. They only require $10k coin in to receive the mailer that comes with $200 free play and all food (with one dinner at Hugo's) . This offer is for 3 nights. I could stay the three nights and eat three meals a day there, use my $200 free play and give them $10k coin in, or I can do what I always do and book the offer for two nights, eat one dinner there, use my $200 free play, and give them my $10k coin in (sometimes more -- last time it was $25k). If none of my friends or family wants to use the room I will check out after dinner or the next morning so they have the room to sell to someone else. And if there comes a time when I no longer care about receiving this offer I might very well book it and not give them the whole $10k coin in. But that is my prerogative and they will answer me with a lesser offer or no offers.

You really need to take a step back and look at what you're saying here.
SUE, PLEASE, YOURE RIGHT !! You wrote: "Show me where Mare and/or I said we "took the free play and ran." You can't, because we never said that." YES. I NEVER SAID YOU OR MARE SAID IT. You took it personally and I wasnt referring to you personally. I was talking about the problem with double bookers who do such things. And I know its done. Its a problem for the casinos.

Dan, you gave me a lot to go after.

#1 "I don't think that this was a well thought out plan on the part of Adelson." You've got to be kidding me. I've sat in the same room with his marketing people and I know they go over each and every detail.

#2 Unless this person identifies themself and let's us know their previous play level we wont really know if they were deserving of the offers even before this happened. Some people "stretch" the system. Maybe they finally cut him off. I recall talking with some of the hosts at Caesars who had to deal with "diamonds from Tunica who showed up at Caesars after the merger with Harrahs and thought that all of those freebies and perks that they got in Tunica they would get at Caesars -- but didnt.

And regarding the rest of the posts, sorry you don't agree or get my point. Im taking a view which obviously is not on the players' side. Sorry.

We're all very impressed.

Maybe you sat in the same room with the marketing people when:

  • Ford introduced the Edsel
  • Coke introduced New Coke
  • Microsoft introduced Windows Millennium and, later, Windows Vista

I mean, when all these high-powerered marketing types go over each and every detail, well, they couldn't hardly make a mistake could they?
