Venetian/Palazzo RESCINDING offers that have already been booked!!!

.............. we could debate this until eternity and never reach consensus.

You're kidding, right?

There already is a consensus.

As seems to be the norm lately.....

On one side is MoneyLA

and on the other side is almost everyone else.

Therein lies the problem. Many, many people placed their bet that V/P would be their home casino by playing there and trusting that the casino would continue to give them the comps they deserve. Now many of those people may no longer have anywhere in Las Vegas to get a free room because they put all of their eggs in one basket and that basket-holder decided those loyal players are no longer the players they want.

Sound fair to you? Give me a break.

Do I believe that businesses can do whatever they want with their business? To a certain degree, yes, but they need to stay within the norm for their industry. V/P just went way away from that norm.
Mare, I agree with you. It's not fair. LVS has made this business decision -- it appears they are going after a different market that is linked to the convention business and their major investment in the convention center. It hurts everyone who used to be a loyal lower or mid level player.

the casinos talk about "loyalty programs" well there is no loyalty when it comes to $$ .

Please dont make me the object of your anger. I didnt make this policy move for LVS, nor did I cancel the free rooms for the player in the original post. Somehow I became a target here.

My guess is stockholders will love this. Stockholders generally love anything that bends over the little guy and gal and makes them cough up more cash.

I would sell stock in Sands if I had any.

We'll see what happens.

You became a target here because you appear to support the V/P decision.

You've met "the man".

Yes, Money, you became the target here because you DO appear to support the V/P decision. I'm not directing anger at you or anyone else.

I think their decision is ridiculous and I also believe it is unethical to treat loyal customers that way, but I am not one of their customers. (I have not played there since March 2009.)

I feel for the people that haven gotten screwed, but I am not angry. However, I do hope that karma slaps Sheldon Adelson in the wallet rather quickly.

what you really hope is that next Sunday morning, I am wheeling a suitcase full of cash out of the Palazzo, right?
Look I got screwed years ago at mandalay bay so I stopped playing there. Its part of the gamble. And next time ask me if I agree first before you start your attack. Also if you want to play the comps game be aware that they make the rules. Remember when caesars stopped their cash back? It cost me and others a lot of money because there was no notice.

Money, I hope you'll excuse me if I don't buy that Adelson manages by consensus. Here's the scoop....he stepped on his dick! LOL

Do you really think that he's ralleyed the marketing and host troops around his new philosophy? If this was a winning strategy, why didn't he employ this from the opening of this property....especially when the economy was considerably better?

At the end of the day, it's his call. The only thing I take exception to is the fact that he cancelled comped reservations AFTER the rooms were booked and confirmed. I don't play there so none of this affects me directly. I just think it's scummy and I'm trying to understand how you can rationalize this. You can keep reading the OP as many times as you like but the facts don't change....the patron got an offer, booked the offer, had it confirmed and then got a call back essentially cancelling the offer. What part of that is the customer's problem? The more I read this, the more I'd like to see people break it off in them. I personally wouldn't give them a penny of play.

I disagree that people should just pitch up, play and hope that they will grace the patron with a comp. Why would you subject yourself to that risk when there are places that will comp you up front AND honor their confirmed reservation?

Yes Money, you've set yourself up to be the target because with all due respect, you've supported a stupid decision. Once again, no problem if they want to change strategy but to cancel confirmed reservations as a result of offers they've made based on previous play is world class scummy.

Dan
Dan - never did I support this decision. I explained the rationale as I understand. I still question the original post. How many people had their comped rooms canceled? I've consulted for LVS. Adelson does not shoot from the hip. I am confident that they studied every detail. We will see, won't we?
