Venison for Thanksgiving two years in row!

My youngest boy moved back in with me a couple of months back as he saves for a house. While hunting today, he got an Indiana corn fed buck, and assuming that the "processor" hands him back soon, we're serving him for Thanksgiving.

If he's as good as our deer last year, the backstrap and loins will be outstanding.

Our son moved back in with us as well. He is a prolific hunter and there was a thanksgiving doe hanging in the garage this morning.

Here in Iowa, the deer are also corn fed and seem to be everywhere this time of year.
Always nice when they pay the rent in meat.

Happy Thanksgiving,

Paul
Don't forget the Venison Jerky ! Bob
This 6 point, 190# bucks hangs in my garage as I type. Since this is a first, my dog is quite confused. Before going to sleep, I decided to close the garage door..............for fear that the carcass might freeze, or that coyotes might drag my boy's prize away. After watching TV for maybe 30 minutes, I was wondering were my dog was, so I got out of bed and called for him to come inside. With no response, I looked around the house, but still couldn't find him (Zeppelin). I soon realized that I'd closed our very loved mutt in the garage, and he was sitting silently in the dark, ten feet from the deer, staring.

I called Zeppelin inside, which he did so reluctantly and seemingly confused.

Too funny.
My son brought his dog with him when he moved in (short haired pointer) who would give up every milkbone in her future for the chance to get up close and personal with the deer carcass.

I can't believe Zeppelin didn't get an up close taste of that deer, that's one well behaved pup. This reminds me of something my old redneck neighbors did but it's entirely too gross to share on here.

Do you make jerky or bologna? ( I think the tune is the only reason I can spell bologna )

My sister in law makes the absolute best deer bologna ever. I used to get a 5# log every year, I guess she quit making it, she did say it was a lot of work, I miss it nonetheless.
Hell, I didn't make anything! Bucky has been moved out of my garage, and I'm happy about that. He's now at a Lebanon, IN meat processor. He won't be back in time for Thanksgiving, so we'll be doing beef with a French sauce that I'm going to try.

Did you ever report back on how the chicken(?) soaked in milk turned out? If you did, I missed it.

Is there such a thing as veternary psychiatry? Zeppelin may require a few sessions. LOL.
I did give a report back on the chicken soaked in milk, then boiled in milk for 35 minutes, and finally fried in a skillet with Crisco. It was outstanding, but then again, I think KFC is outstanding. Next time that I do this, I'm going to pep up the flour mix, trying to achieve more of a Popeye's chicken spicy chicken.
