Verizon iPhone

I have a Blackberry through Verizon. It is in my name but I submit the bill and my work pays for the service. I have an iTouch I like to play with but it's been acting up. It's lived in rice and silica for a couple weeks but it still doesn't work consistently.

A new iTouch is $200+.

My new ever two promotion with Verizon is coming up. I can get the iPhone from Verizon for $100.

Can I just get the iPhone and transfer my service back to the Blackberry? Then just use the iPhone with wifi like my iTouch?

Will Verizon penalize me? They don't care when I do it with other regular phones but do they check that the iPhone is disconnected?

They won't activate 2 phones for one plan and your iphone won't work as an itouch without service.
Isn't a second line with Verizon only $10.00 a month? That might be your solution, let your company pay the main line and you pay the $10.00/month.

Now after thinking about this, you may be able to since it is Verizon. That is if they still do not use Sim Cards.
My iphone which is through ATT will not go pass the slide screen without my Sim Card.

Verizon uses Sim cards now in the Blackberries so the work in Europe. Not sure if you need Sim card in USA.

They will charge me for data plan on both phones.

You need a sneaky, devious person to figure out if there is a work around for this Snidely. (sorry not me) I just got my first Verizon phone with a sim card. (Samsung Droid Charge) I have mixed feelings about the phone so far. It's just a few days old. I'm constantly turning the apps off to conserve the battery and have the wifi turned off. You need to be very careful when you you are in 4G because it sucks the battery big time when online. Overall a very nice phone with a very large screen for my midle-aged eyes. Good luck!
