The original El Rancho Vegas went up in flames in 1960. I have a chip from the place that experienced some of the heat....

The Hacienda Las Vegas had their own runway on the property for airplanes used to shuttle folks from California. The flights became so numerous that the FAA determined it no longer qualified as a private air strip and they shut it down. I stayed there in 1978. It was a fun casino!

As for the hacienda and their plane. Back in '59 They set the world record for longest continuous flight at 64 DAYS and change.

Yep. That plane is hanging from the ceiling at McCarran. Slowing down the plane and fueling it from a tank on the back of a Chevy pickup truck got pretty tricky sometimes. I think they had their own DC-8's for junket traffic.
