visit to Calif.

Spent a couple of days at Esalen Institute in Big Sur and spent some time in San Francisco and along the coast. It was all very beautiful. Four things stood out for me. The Golden Gate bridge has reversible lanes. They have the ability to change the number of lanes going in each direction. The Redwood forests we hiked through were so very quiet. The stillness was almost eerie. No insects, other than butterflies. No wind, no wildlife and no birds. Third was the high price of gas. Fourth is the high cost of housing, how does anyone afford to live there?
The Golden Gate isn't alone because I've been on many bridges with reversible lanes.

Sounds like a nice trip.
Many things in San Francisco go both ways
Interesting info.
Thanks for sharing.

The high price of everything in CA was/is a failed method to keep the population down in the state.
I went over the Golden Gate a couple of months ago. In the past there was a toll booth when you were headed into San Francisco. I didn't have the Fast Pass. I was shocked when about a week and a half after I got back I got a bill for the toll in the mail. San Francisco is beautiful, but real estate and lack of parking are off the charts.
We did the John Muir forest and I remember it pretty much the same way, absolutely beautiful. I don't think anyone can truly appreciate how giant the trees actually are w/o seeing them up close. TV doesn't do much justice for them.
You should have come down to SoCal. Much nicer down here!
