This image has the most detail:

this is one of the better pics. On the right, the tiered area is the new parking lot. the cyllindrical thing on the mountain wall next to the dam is the new visitor center (you have to pay to get into it though). below right is one of the older parking lots (now only for workers). the rectangular buildings are the old buildings.

While there are drop off areas there isn't any area for you to park and make a quick stop to take quick pics. guards will probably come see you if you try to park near the dam.

Oh those drop areas will do. I've seen the damn dam enough times. Are the drop off areas right on the new bypass road?

No drop off areas on the bypass bridge. rouletteman shows the pic of the parking lot to the bypass bridge. you have to climb the hill, the bridge is behind that hill.

In my pics, the parking lot to the bypass bridge is in the upper right corner, right before you go down to see the dam.

as for dropoff areas to get to the dam, guess you could get off on either end and drop people off. You could probably drop them off in the middle of the dam but I think the security guards might yell at you to keep moving. After 9/11 don't think they want a vehicle to stay on the dam for very long, if a van full of explosives stops and explodes it might topple the dam (not likely with the lake being so low nowadays but it could take a sizeable chunk out of the dam). Actually I'm surprised that they are still allowing vehicles on the dam, thought that would be a security and terrorist risk.
