There were almost "24 million active voter registrations in the U.S. either invalid or inaccurate."
WHICH WOULDN'T BE AFFECTED BY VOTER ID LAWS.

•Almost two million dead Americans were still on the active voting lists.
WHICH WOULDN'T BE AFFECTED BY VOTER ID LAWS.

•12 million voter records were riddled with "incorrect addresses or other errors."
WHICH WOULDN'T BE AFFECTED BY VOTER ID LAWS.
Like I said before, other than the cost I have no problem with it. And I would LOVE it if the fingers of all those Republican absentee voters were forced to show up in person at the polling locations.
Wow fellows some of the the numbers are meaningless. Three of my children completed school and moved to different States where they registered to vote. In my State I've gotten mailings that show they're still on the rolls here. Is this fraud? Is it a significant problem? No, just some database management that will eventually take place. I suspect the same is true for most of the dead folks. People die and it takes some time to clear up the rolls. When I objectively read the news, I hear objective reports of no voting issues -- this includes State level officials responsible for the process. When I hear tales of fraud, they are just that anecdotes. If these tales are real, share sources. Otherwise it's just so much speculation.
How about this....Let someone vote one time with no ID. Give them contact information for an organization that will help them get ID at no cost. If they show up at the polls again with no ID...No Vote For You.

Wisconsin is having a problem with that right now. At first, the state told people that asked for the free IDs that they didn’t qualify, and then after they got taken to court and lost, they said ok fine you can have your free IDs, but we aren’t mailing them out until after the election. As you might have guessed, they are being taken to court again. The problem with these Republican schemes, besides the statistically it isn’t problem, is that they build in ways for the Republican party to cheat. I just mentioned two ways the Republicans in Wisconsin got caught cheating and then there is the always amusing southern Republicans that decided the way to cheat was to close all the license branches in black communities, so black voters couldn’t get id.

Sounds like the State Government there was just biased or incompetent. Don't throw the baby out with the bath water though. I'm sure we could come up with ways to do it that are fair, cheap and effective. Whether it is 'statistically significant' or not, there's nothing wrong with validating a voter's identification....and in the AlanLeroy Free ID system, everyone gets one mulligan...so they've got 6 months to get their ID together.

People who don't have ID should be helped to get one....instead of either bitching that it's unfair that they have to show ID to vote or bitching that it's wrong that they don't have to show ID to vote. The root problem is some people are either too poor or repressed or irresponsible or whatever to get ID. Let's solve the real problem. There's not a lot of opportunity for people without ID in this society. This would help them as much as it would the voting system.

That's the cool thing about dealing with a nonexistent problem. There are so many ways to fix it!

But I'm sure you would allow people to use their existing ID's that have been highly vetted, you know like public college and university identification and food stamp ID. EVERYONE else would have to go through your sometimes laborious process to get the proper ID, right?

Just kidding. That would be just as unfair as giving a pass to everyone who is licensed to drive a car. Favoring any demographic group when it comes to voting is disgraceful and un-American, and I'm sure no one here would want any part of it.
It is not incompetence. It is intentional cheating by state elected officials aligned and working in concert with their state Republican Party. Until you figure out a way to keep Republicans from cheating, there is no way to implement a constitutional voter ID scheme.

Well I guess we're just going to have to go with the RFID Citizenship implants at birth or naturalization.

Anyone who doesn't have an ID and wants to vote should be helped to get an ID. It's a pretty simple concept. It helps them. It helps assure fair elections. It's a win/win.

Whether or not it's been a problem in the past, it just isn't unreasonable to ask a voter for identification. Just because you've never been robbed doesn't mean it's smart to leave your garage door open or your house unlocked. We should be smart enough to figure out how to assure a person is who he claims when voting without suppressing anyone's vote.

"Anyone who doesn't have an ID?" So anyone with food stamp, college student, or union membership identification should automatically qualify, while everyone else should have to go through some sort of hassle?

No, that would be unfair. NO ONE should have a head start in the process. Even people who drive cars.

And again, do you advocate having all those Republicans voting with absentee to have to come to the polling station to show their ID. Let me guess - "Oh that's different!"
