I vote for more Fremont!

How about this....Let someone vote one time with no ID. Give them contact information for an organization that will help them get ID at no cost. If they show up at the polls again with no ID...No Vote For You.
But I'm sure you would allow people to use their existing ID's that have been highly vetted, you know like public college and university identification and food stamp ID. EVERYONE else would have to go through your sometimes laborious process to get the proper ID, right?
Just kidding. That would be just as unfair as giving a pass to everyone who is licensed to drive a car. Favoring any demographic group when it comes to voting is disgraceful and un-American, and I'm sure no one here would want any part of it.
Whether or not it's been a problem in the past, it just isn't unreasonable to ask a voter for identification. Just because you've never been robbed doesn't mean it's smart to leave your garage door open or your house unlocked. We should be smart enough to figure out how to assure a person is who he claims when voting without suppressing anyone's vote.
QuoteIn my opinion, the real problem isn't that it's unfair. It's that the process to get an ID isn't very efficient. Fix that and the 99% of the non-problem goes away. Democrats should be happy because everyone who wants to vote gets to vote. Republicans should be happy they don't needlessly have to fret about voter fraud. Poor voters who don't have ID get to vote and get a nice new ID that will help them in other aspects of their lives. Everyone wins. Except Democrats and Republicans who just want to bitch at each other and not solve problems.

No, that would be unfair. NO ONE should have a head start in the process. Even people who drive cars.

Of course we can even add in the Canadian alternate process. If you are too poor or busy or lost your ID or just can't get it together enough to get an acceptable ID.....whatever, You can have another voter take an oath and vouch for you. You just both need to make a sworn statement. I'm Ok with that too.
They must take their voting seriously in Canada...and you don't hear about 'voter suppression' up there.
