VP/when to save the kicker ?/ddbpoker

I am playing on a free slot /poker website . It has plenty of VP on it . It also has a trainer that tells you which cards to discard with a table showing how many times that scenario has been done that way.

My question is. In DDB I want to keep a kicker/A234 with any pair of A234 . The trainer says to keep the pair and discard the kicker.

If I had 3 of kind with a kicker would I save it . I have not come across that yet.

Ok Just caught 3 Aces with a kicker 3 on the deal. The trainer says discard the 3 . Does this sound right ?

In DDB, you do not save the kicker if you have a pair or 3-of-a-kind.
Thanks Sue I'm not surprised to hear not to save it with the pair but yet I thought you would with the trips. It is DDB with nice payouts on the kicker. I am not the VP pro here . It will be nice to hear what others say.

Sue by the way , I know you are a Cubbies fan what about the Bears?

If you really like to hold kickers then it is the correct play in TDB holding trips.

Essentially holding a kicker with trips costs you half of the quads you would see without the holding the kicker. So, the payback with kicker has to be substantially better to make it worthwhile. Keep in mind you can always draw the kicker as well.

Yes, I was going to say that you hold the kicker in Triple Double Bonus when you're dealt 3-of-a-kind, but didn't want to start that old debate again, LOL.

I'm a Bears fan, but am not happy that they're playing Green Bay for the championship. Too much bad history there. It's going to be a tough game.

This is my thinking . 50/50 with a gamble . I am trying to get the most money on my bet but I understand I decrease my odds of getting 4 of a kind by keeping the kicker. I think this will be very debatable .

Thanks Arcimedes

It depends upon the VP game played, the denomination and the VP machine manufacturer.

It's kind of a series of hold/don't hold options, that some have formulated a few years ago,
to be employed specifically when the "Seven of Diamonds" appears with certain high cards of a particular suit(s).

It's one of those "Special Plays", for very advanced expert players, under circumstances so very rare as to be almost nonexistent.
