Unfortunately it's not as simplistic as that. His routine was not checking before driving, but checking at a certain time of day (probably twice a day). This is as recommended by most physicians. We don't know his history of severe hypoglycemia and to suggest what his glucose monitoring routine should have been without the facts is presumptive.

There aren't enough facts to judge him for failing to test in advance of driving. It's pretty easy to judge the cop who was kicking him in the head when he was down....and then joking about it.
