Was 2015 the warmest year on record?

No. There was no scientific community. The Roman Inquisition persecuted and killed any "heretic" that challenged the religious belief you speak of.

Galileo employed the scientific method to determine a more intelligent model of the universe - and he was imprisoned for it by uninformed religious zealots.
Science: round
Partisan government consensus: flat.

Science: climate change is real
Partisan government consensus: no change

Don't know if this was the hottest year ever but I know it's been a very hot summer in the northeast. Supposed to be 97°F on this Saturday. September 10th.

Of course there was a scientific community. There is recorded history of a scientific community going back pre Babylon in 1600.....Anno Domini (BC).

Copernicus and Galileo put forth that the Earth revolved around the sun. The religious zealots (who were the ruling politicos of the time) knew the Earth was not flat, that was not the contention, but held that the Earth MUST be the center of the universe. Many in the scientific community of that time went along with the political policy then as well.
It's usually warm in Vegas!!!

You might have a point. Just point out three Democrats in high elected office that deny climate change and I'll agree with you.

Hmm..missed this post.

Who in the world said a word about 'high elected office'?. Besides you?

I don't defer my thinking to anybody, I prefer tothink for myself. I see, hear and read many things, but like I said, I do my thinking for myself. Too bad most people let others do their thinking for them. Sheeple are what some refer to them as.

I look forward to reading your comprehensive research and findings regarding the effects of the Industrial Revolution on climate. You might want to consider getting some kind of degree in that field as a first step.

In the meantime I'll get my information from people who know what they are talking about.

Right-o, I'm going to start an an depth research report on global warming(NOT), but if I did I would have to include EVERYTHING I could find from the beginning of recorded climate history to the present. That's a helluva lot of info to digest and write on. To be fair I'd have to include the global cooling from the 40's to 70's when there were predictions of dire cooling (that was AFTER the ind. revolution, right?).

You go ahead and follow what others are saying, I'll continue to think on my own, thank you very much.

BYW Remember, I said I'm on the fence about the whole thing, I don't believe or disbelieve and quite frankly I think' there's bigger issues going on at the moment.

Yes they did but there is always more to the story.

The consensus agreed the Earth was flat even though they knew it was not true. They publicly agreed because it was politically correct to do so.

Could it be that some % of scientists today do not show skepticism of global warming claims because it is politically incorrect to do so?

Naaa....never.

Not only politically incorrect for many but peer pressure from fellow scientists. I can also see large companies that might get government grants, who don't want their scientists publicly stating that global warming claims are incorrect.

I still think you need to take a good look at Al Gore and his lifestyle to see that he really doesn't take it seriously.

They did it so they didn't get burned as heretics.
