We Celebrated Mrs. Tutontow's Birthday

We went to BEE- U-TEE Full Crystal River, Florida to celebrate Mrs. Tuts birthday. She wanted to go fishing so of course I obliged. Crystal River is a short two hour drive from our home.

I booked a grouper trip with a well known guide and also booked a room in a Holiday Inn Express. The hotel was just okay. The guide was excellent.

Keep in mind this was fourth of July weekend. The opening of scallop season and the opening of gag grouper season so it was a madhouse and hard to find a room.

For the Tut's it doesn't get much better. You go out on a boat all day and breath salt air. You catch wonderful tasting fish. You drink beer. You go back to the marina and the guide cleans your fish and everyone including the guide drinks beer. You get you fillets on ice and go to your hotel. You get cleaned up and go to a well known Crystal River eatery that is appropriately name.

We had mucho draft beer. Raw Oysters, Crab Cakes, Clam Chowder and blackened Amberjack. It was wonderful.

Yesterday we drove home and hung out in our pool all day. After much imbibing I grill some Cobia over charcoal and mesquite.

Mrs. Tut had such a good time I have already booked for next year.

One happy Tutontow with a 45 pound Cobia.

t
An appropriately name Florida dining establishment. It was mmm mmm good. And the beer was ice cold. The Tut's were smart we took a cab everywhere we went.
Very nice and a belated happy day to Mrs. Tut.
I do like me some Lemonfish (Cobia). I've spent too much time on the west coast of the continent now, your post makes me want to head east.

Cowboy it is funny you mention that. I have a good friend who left Florida and moved to San Diego. He says we always dreamed about the California beaches. He tells me they don't hold a candle to Florida's. First off the Pacific is way to cold to swim in compared to the Atlantic and the Gulf of Mexico. And he sure does miss the Florida fishing.

Man Oh Man Mr. Tut,
that sounded like a woderful, fun filled Birthday Party you gave the Mrs.
Thanks for sharing it with us, and the cool pictures too

I especially liked the part where;
"We had mucho draft beer. Raw Oysters, Crab Cakes, Clam Chowder and blackened Amberjack".

Happy B'Day Mrs. Tut

Thanks Rick. How about it, a seat at the bar with the draft flowing and plenty of fresh seafood with a view of the water.

Oooooo...blackened grouper is probably the thing I loved most about living on the gulf. I never caught anything that big on my deep sea fishing charters. good score - and good eating for you!

PJ there is a restaurant close to where we fish that will cook your catch. One evening they cooked some grouper we caught. It was out of this world good. We had it blackened, fried, baked and grouper alfredo. The fish was literally filleted 15 minutes before it was cooked. The alfredo was beyond words it was so good. As you can probably tell we absolutey love going to that part of Florida and doing the fishing thing.
What a great time and major score onthefish, beautiful.
