How about leaving the dog home in a pet hotel? Petsmart here boards dogs, brings them into the doggie day care for romping time during the day, and then takes them for walks later in the day. Why bother with the expense and disruption to the dog to have them travel all the way across country? I would not put my dog in cargo on the plane. I know the temp tends to be cold in there, and then they are alone in their carrier with no one to calm them.
