Whenever I call Southwest Airlines..I go on hold several times I have given it a half hour and still no person on the other end...................I then call it a day and give up .............I try again in an hour or so and it is the same thing.
I remember when the recordings used to be so creative and fun to listen to that I would joke that I was disappointed when my call would be taken and would ask in jest to be put back to the recording for a few more minutes..........

I like dealing with SouthWest apart from this current issue........any advice???

Funny it is ..........after posting this ..I gave a call and got them on the 3rd ring!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so it goes
Just curious - what are you calling them for? I've used them almost exclusively for 10 years and never had an issue I could not resolve on the net.

It's the incredible power of an LVA rant.

I'm with PJ, I can't remember the last time I spoke to an airline rep. I used to book a summer golf trip for anywhere from 3-10 guys pre-online days. What a pain. Online I could get info on 6-10 options in the time it took to fall asleep listening to hold music or airline bs. If you don't do computers or other electronic devices, ask a friend for an assist. Another option is the public library for free time and a certain amount of printing. Leave the phone for important things like unsolicited sales pitches and wrong numbers.

Good Luck!

I've had to call Southwest a few times, never waited long, and the recording allowed me to "press one now" or something so I could hang up and they would call me back while retaining my place in the line of calls on hold.

Why I had to call: I saw an incredibly low fare on their web site, so low that I couldn't believe my eyes. When I tried to sign up for it online I kept getting an error message. Fearing this rate would disappear quickly I called.

The agent first said he wasn't seeing the fare I was calling about. I had it up on my screen and said "well, I'm looking at it on my screen." He then said "Oh, yes I see it now" and he booked my flight at that price. Out of curiosity I checked back shortly thereafter, and sure enough that fare was no longer showing. I suspect it was some sort of glitch in their system (the low fare). Glad I had called and got it before they took it down.

Also, I found that if you CALL SWA to make changes your flight or some other action that you initially did online, if you THEN have to make another change to that flight, you have to CALL to have them do it. You'll get an error message to call. The agent told me "Once we get into your reservation, any subsequent changes have to be made by us. You won't be able to make changes online to that reservation."

This is not true for just questions, but if you call to have them make changes you will have to call for any further changes.

Again, not a big deal usually, just a bit more inconvenient to have to call. And my experience was a couple years ago, so perhaps it has changed, hopefully.
I guess we're fortunate, never had to cal. We've only made a few flights so far tho.
