The 2012 ACG has a match play coupon for the Western.

I don't believe for one bit that they are losing money every day that they are open, " yeah, we don't show a profit at days end, but we make it up in volume " This place has to be paid off many,many times over in the 41 years of not making any $

I probably have stayed at the El Cortez 25 times over the years, and have seen the Western a block away, but never felt the desire to move a step further down the social ladder so I never made it there

been there once. the walk down there was scarier than the inside, and I was in a group of 6.

DonDiego has also stayed at the El Cortez Hotel and Casino -"Las Vegas Like It Used to Be" many times and never saw the inside of the Western. He invited teechur to wander on over to check it out on several recent visits, but she always declined to accompany him, . . . and DonDiego was afraid to go on his own.

Why don't you believe that they are losing money? Businesses don't usually close when they are making money.

Wife and I got liquored up and walked down to the Western. Oh, the fun we had.

A bar that serves 40's of malt liquor. Thats about all you need to know about the Western. I've gone each of the last 4 years in hopes of spending my ACG matchplay but everytime I went the tables weren't open. I never found the walk to be scary- although I certainly encountered a few interesting characters enroute.

Looks like I'll get to go one last time before they close up. The article says 90 people are affected. I would not have guessed the Western employed that many people.

My friend and I wandered there around 15 yrs. ago and it was a REALLY seedy place.
