What the heck is going on the weekend of March 23rd?

I'm coming into town for a one night stay on March 25th, and the rates for that night and the two before it (23 and 24) are all out of sight.

Bills, Riviera, and IP all want $60+, Mirage/Harrahs/Monte Carlo, etc all want $100+

Even the Plaza wants $55.

I finally settled for the Golden Gate at $39.99.

Is there some big fight or convention going on that weekend that I haven't heard about?

Usually Sunday night rates are a lot better then that...

March Madness can definitely take the blame for those rates. No major concerts/fights scheduled and no really big conventions - the largest ongoing at that time is the ASD Consumer Goods Tradeshow with 41,000 attendees.

There is also the Mint 400 Race.
Don't know the # of people involved.
This big off road race is that same weekend, they maybe tied into
some Fremont Street events, looking at the Race registeration info
it states the entry fee also includes a free night's stay at the Riviera.
