What the hell is a "convenience fee"?

I note that when you book show tickets on line, at least two of the sites (Ticketron and Vegas.com) add a "convenience fee" to the price of the tickets? What "convenience" do you get in a convenience fee? Do you get any extras? It sounds like nothing more than a transaction fee, with no benefits, to me.
It just serves as a reminder to you, that it's a very "convenient" method for them to make a few extra $$$'s.

Even more obnoxious, Stubhub charges a fee to print the tickets at home.
its supposed to be that its convenient for you to order tickets from home, instead of going to a box office.

but i dont find that convenient at all, especially for places that dont even have a freaking box office so its not like you have a choice.

When ordering tickets online and printing them at home started, it opened a door for scam ticket scalpers.
Now that is convience...lol
You always have a choice.

When it is 40 to 50 dollars for the convenience fee, I wonder if they are taking it in the context that is the convenience to pay someone to stand in line for you? I actually found the tickets cheaper on the link on the LVA site (which in this case was BestofVegas.com. They have an extra fee too, but they call theirs fees and taxes. Their price was $76 less per ticket.
"convenience fee" - Another added total rip off fee paid for by people with more money than common sense.
My "favorite" is the 17 dollar convenience fee Allegiant charges per ticket for booking online.
It's a convenient way for them to take more of your money, while they
lay off more of their staff, because you, conveniently, just did all of the work
for them, while paying them for the opportunity to do so.
