Actually, there's been some earthquakes. Although they weren't really in Nevada, the rumblings came from major earthquakes....like the Northridge quake in '94....that rattled plenty of places. There was no damage like there was in Calif., but a few places had some broken glass and such! You should have also mentioned that there is no estate taxes which might appeal to some of the older folks leaving money to their heirs!
I remember looking out my window at Caeser's Palace on my first trip and noticing the "purple mountains' and thinking of the song, "America the Beautiful" and its mention of Purple Mountains Majesty. We didn't have anything like that back in New Jersey!

Feeling a tremor from an earthquake somewhere else doesn't qualify as a natural disaster in my book.

Good point about the estate tax though.

My first night in Vegas included an earthquake. This was 1999. The quake was in La Jolla, but it shook the hell out of Mandalay Bay, setting off alarms and tossing clothes and luggage out of closets. No one I saw in the casino seemed concerned, and for a few seconds I felt like I was standing on a moving sidewalk.

I have no point here. Just wanted to reminisce.
