What new car would you buy?

If you live in a car-mad part of the country, get pricing guarantees from carsdirect.com. I have a friend who owns dealerships for the brands of car we bought the past three times, and he couldn't touch what I could get here through carsdirect.com. And carsdirect.com beat Costco, AAA and our credit union, too. USAA has a good car-buying program, as well. But it's all very region-specific.
I bought a 2011 Buick Lacrosse--great ride, pretty good gas mileage, good handling, roomy trunk.

Negastives: Side airbags cause the door frame around the window to be a little higher, making driving with your arm on the window area uncomfortable. it's also a little tough for me when going through drive-thru's.

Buy a Ford, or take a trip to Hawaii and see how the Japanese Bombed us there and then spend your $ to kiss them.
Lee, hate to tell you but most US cars, have parts in them from just about everywhere. Some are not even made here in the US.

I have been driving my Nissan Altima 3.5 since 2003. It is extremely reliable and it is a smooth ride.still going strong and only routine maintainence.

Don't buy cars made in the U.S. South. Those folks rebelled against Old Glory. They can go to hell.

Stay away from them German cars, too. We were at war with them, too.

Do we have a beef with the Koreans?
Bought a 2010 Ford Fusion SE in October and LOVE it. I swore I never would by a Ford, but after getting a accidental upgrade in Laughlin about a year ago and ended up renting a Fusion and driving it to and from Vegas fell in love with it. Still wasnt sure I wanted to take the plunge of having car payments again so I rented another Fusion a 5 months later in Vegas and it confirmed how much I liked the car. Also did research on line and read reviews of owners. The Fusion was Motortrends car of the year for 2010 in its class, found that out after I drove one. I've been on 3 mini-roadtrips with it and the gas mileage getting BETTER with each trip

My old car was at the point of where I dump a ton of bucks into it or get a new car, so I went new. I highly recommend anyone rent a car they are thinking about buying while on a vacation. No pressure that way, and you can get a real feel for the car and how it drives.
The Fusion is very nice. I drove one for a few days while my car was in the shop. The Fusion got leaky tire so I traded it in on a Charger. Two very different cars. The Charger seemed very archaic. Very American but very unrefined and horrible gas mileage.
