What THE Smart Plan - Palazzo

That is really insane. Pretty soon the add-ons will surpass the basic room costs.

Last summer I was checking into the Fremont. Without thinking I threw a $20 between my DL&CC. As soon as I did I knew I had to ask, knowing they had no upgrades. He said he didn't know of any available. As I grabbed the $20 I apologized for asking. He gave me a room just down from the elevator and not far from ice. Not sure if the apology helped or not. I felt stupid asking for a 100-1 shot. If you want to ask for an upgrade, remember where you are and if anything might even be available.

As far as the "Smart Plan" goes, it's obviously another way it increase revenue. Fortunately, in this case you have a choice. I suppose next they'll charge extra for checking in on the same day as your reservation!

I've seen some Las Vegas hotels offering early check in (10:00 a.m.) and late check out (3:00 p.m.) for an extra fee ($25 to $40), but it isn't a surcharge added to every night of your stay. I would pay for that because I always book my Las Vegas return flights to depart in the late afternoon or early evening. I like being able to sleep late before heading home.
