What to do if you find a malfunctioning progressive?

A couple of weeks ago I was the only player playing a bank of progressive VP machines.

On this particular progressive, there is a progressive payout for 4 x 2-4 and up (double double bonus)...

While switching from machine to machine, while I was playing one particular machine I noticed that none of the progressive amounts raised, but the progressive amounts matched the other machines and the display above. I didn't hit anything, didnt think much about it, moved on...

fast forward a bit.

Playing in the same place, someone hit 4AWK on the machine. I watched them get paid out the $2100+ for the 4AWK progressive. BUT, I noticed that the progressive did not reset on that machine or any of the others... and as I kept playing the 4AWK progressive kept getting higher and higher...

I pointed this out to the slot person who paid off the jack pot... he looked puzzled...
slapinfunk pointed this out to me. good observation.

two things are happening here:

1. this paticular machine in the bank of progressive machines is not contributing to the progressive pools. so the players in the progressive are being cheated.

2. but when a progressive is hit on this one particular machine, it does not reset the progressives back to the base level which means the casino is cheating itself.

I dont know which is the bigger wrong? the casino cheating the players, or the casino cheating itself?

we might as well spill the beans here. its the $1 DDB progresive at Rincon. And its the second to theend machine on the far right as you face the bank of machines. the second machine closest to the side slot room and farthest from the entry doors to the casino.

edited to properly identify which machine
if you are looking at the machines.... its the 2nd one to the end on the far right...

Most progressives whom DonDiego encounters are constantly malfunctioning; he usually just lets them be.

well dondiego, that might be. but you certainly dont want to be playing on this particular machine, because what you play on it will not be added to the progressive jackpots. you certainly want to "hit" on this machine and leave the jackpots intact to be hit again. LOL
My Iowa boat has a progressive bank where a jackpot will occasionally not reset to its starting value after being hit. Seems like it usually is a specific jackpot (Spec 4K?) on the same machine time after time. When notified, casino techs seem to know exactly what to do. They open the machine, press something, and close it again. The progressive then matches the other machines in the bank.

More troublesome was a problem at my Illinois casino. A bank there went through a period where the royal progressive would reset to its starting point without anyone hitting it. After manually reentering the correct amouint a few times, they finally had to shut down the bank and install new hardware or software, or whatever it took. The bank hasn't had any trouble since then.
Malfunction voids all plays.
this is not a malfunction of the game, so the "wins" should be paid, and they have been paid without being contested. this is a case where this particular machine is not contributing to the progressives and when a "progressive win" is hit by this machine alone, the progressives are not reset.

actually it has been brought to the attention of slot personnell several times-- even before slapinfunk did it. nothing was done.
I think if this machine were not contributing to the progressive then it also would not register the correct pay out for the win. It would default to a standard pay out. There must be some communication between the machine and the progressive if it is registering the correct pay for the win. I have seen the exact same thing here in LV. I have seen it on the same machine for about a year now. The condition was reported to the casino and they haven't done anything about it.
Yeah, that Obama progressive has really been malfunctioning lately.
