What will happen to the North end of the strip?

Low and middle income housing is the remedy for abandoned casino hotels... OK, I can dream.

Unless somebody forgot something, there has been a sh!tload of building on the north end of the strip since 2008. Most of that area had construction on the Trump side of the street and on the Sahara side. Almost all of that space has new buildings on it as of Aug 2009. In order to change things around, some stuff has to go bye bye. McD's is on the strip, when they weren't before 2009.

Mickey Dees has been at that location for years. It was there on my first Vegas trip in 2001. It might have been closed for awhile while they rebuilt it, but it was there in 2001 and didn't look new at the time.
McDonald's has been on the Strip at the location under discussion for over 25 years. And the McDonald's at the location under discussion is brand new!

Here's what happened:
"McDonald's is moving out of the way of Echelon [Place], snuggling up to Slots-a-Fun (on the strip near Circus Circus). Boyd struck a deal with McD's, purchasing the McDonald's land for $15+ million and selling them the other lot for 11.8+ million, giving McD's a bigger lot and enough profit to build a new restaurant (and a side of fries). This is a win/win situation, and with the new location so close to the original, McD's won't loose even a day of business."

The new Viva McDonald's - Las Vegas had its Grand Opening on 11 December 2008.

If a theme or better a yet a slogan could be something like, 'downtown gambling, strip location'. I know that sounds kinda dumb, but you know what i mean.

It would be nice for a place like that. Something that has decent food that doesn't cost much, good payouts with good odds, and a decent hotel. It's a shame that every place that builds just wants to always up the ante. Build bigger and more luxurious. Problem is the odds suck, the food is expensive, and the room rates are high. That is why I prefer to gamble either downtown or off strip. I don't need the nicest place in the world to gamble. I want to gamble at a place that has better foods, and affordable decent food.
